🚧 Lancashire's roads are getting the investment they deserve! 🚧

Many residents have asked where the highways funding is coming from and how the budget is made up, so here's the breakdown.

Under the previous Conservative administration, the highways budget stood at £42 million. Today, Reform Lancashire has increased that to £77 million.

This hasn't happened by chance. We've worked closely with Lancashire County Council's Highways Team to secure additional funding, unlock money from Central Government, and bring forward millions of pounds that had been left sitting unused.

We've also taken a proactive approach by investing for the future rather than simply reacting to problems.

📊 The £77 million highways budget is made up of:

✅ £48.5 million from the Department for Transport

✅ £15 million from the Local Transport Grant

✅ £3.5 million through borrowing

✅ £5 million from previously unused carry-over funding

✅ £5 million from the Transitional Fund "Investment to Save" programme

This is a significant increase in investment and means more repairs, more resurfacing and safer roads across Lancashire.

That said, we're not pretending the job is finished. Lancashire still faces an estimated £850 million highways backlog, and there is a long way to go.

But we're determined to keep fighting for every penny of investment possible and deliver the better roads that Lancashire residents deserve.

Less talk. More tarmac. 🚜🛣️

Temporary traffic lights are currently in place on Cotton Tree Lane due to what appears to be utility works being carried out in the area.

Please allow extra time for your journeys as delays are likely, particularly during busier periods throughout the day. Traffic is already moving slower than usual and queues may build up at peak times.

At this stage it looks to be works involving underground utilities, although I will try and find out further details and expected timescales where possible.

As always, please take extra care when travelling through the area and be mindful of workers on site.

Yesterday I attended a tree planting event next to FisherMore RCHS Sport alongside ReWild Yourself (RWY), a charitable initiative from the Voice for Nature Foundation. I was invited by Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for rural affairs.

It was fantastic to see this small piece of land being transformed into a real community asset and protected from developers looking to build over our countryside.

It felt great to get stuck in and play a small part in something so positive for the local area. I’m really looking forward to seeing how the site develops and grows over the coming years.

The space will be used by the community as well as local schools, and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of what has been achieved so far.

This is the side of being a councillor I enjoy most, getting hands on in the community rather than simply sitting in a council chamber.

Although next time I may need to remember sun cream… the top of my head and the back of my neck are now glowing brighter than the future of the project itself!

Quick wins!

A few days ago this was reported on the love clean streets app.

An hour later the council was there to sort the issue out!

The Reform Lancashire Cabinet approved another £5 million on top of the £72 million already in the roads budget, bringing the total up to £77 million.

This £5 million is for treating around 100 miles of our roads BEFORE they break. Cheaper to prevent than patch.

Lancashire's and the nation’s roads are still not good enough. I know. You know.

In twelve months the pothole queue fell from 61,063 to 35,514. Down 42%. There is much more work to do.

Lancashire County Council’s area has over 4,400 miles of roads. The national highways backlog is estimated around £19 billion.

Half a day of Whitehall asylum hotel spending would clear every pothole on Lancashire's list. That is what Whitehall does with your money. This is what we do with it.

No new borrowing. No raid on reserves. Last year's underspending, routed back into our roads.

We are getting on with it.

PERSONAL POST 💪

For years I struggled with my weight and, towards the end of last year, I was genuinely fearful of exercise because I suffer from Fibromyalgia. I honestly thought exercising more would just lead to more pain and flare ups.

Then one day I looked in the mirror and thought: enough is enough.

I started exercising more, eating better and pushing myself out of my comfort zone and safe to say, I’m so glad I did.

Not only do I feel physically better, but mentally I’m in a much stronger place too. My fibromyalgia has improved, I’ve got more energy and overall I just feel happier and healthier.

Big thanks to Billy D Fitness for sticking with me throughout this journey 👏

People might ask what weight loss has to do with being a councillor and fair enough. But the truth is, my confidence was at rock bottom. I hated standing up in front of people and doubted myself constantly because of the way I looked.

Now I feel confident speaking up, challenging things I believe are wrong and fighting even harder for my constituents.

Still a long way to go, but for the first time in a long time, I’m proud of the progress 👍

Check out this absolutely incredible transformation!
On March 6th, Nathen came in sitting at 225 lbs. By May 16th, he officially cracked the 200-mark, weighing in at an incredible 197.9 lbs! That is a massive 27 lbs down in just over two months.
I couldn’t be prouder of the shift Nathen has put in. This wasn't achieved with crash diets or magic pills. It was done through sheer consistency, locking in his nutrition, and giving 100% every single time he stepped through the doors.
He trusted the process and lived the brand: Lift. Sleep. Repeat. Nathen, mate, you’ve absolutely smashed it. Drop some love in the comments to congratulate him on this unbelievable achievement! 👇
If you’re ready to stop putting it off and want to be our next success story, drop me a message and let’s get to work.
