We are continuing to appeal for information about the identity of the individual in the CCTV still.

We want to speak to him about an assault in Colne which left a man with a serious head injury.

The emergency services were called to Market Street just after 1am yesterday following reports a man in his 50s was unresponsive outside the Union Exchange Hotel and had been the victim of an assault. The man was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Following our earlier appeal a man has now come forward to identify himself and he will be interviewed in due course.

However, we also need to identify the individual in the CCTV image, as we believe he can assist us with our enquiries.

If you are that individual – or you recognise him – please email [email protected] or call 101 and quote log 0077 of August 22, 2026.

Officers from Pendle Neighbourhood Policing team, along with help from Immediate Response have spent the morning dismantling a rather sophisticated cannabis farm at the deconsecrated St Mary’s Church on Manchester Road in Nelson. It was brought to the attention of our officers yesterday following some conspicuous pipes running into the building.

On their arrival, the one occupant did his best to leap from the window and run off. He failed to consider the impact the drop might have on his running ability and is subsequently in our custody pending an interview to explain himself.

The grow itself had in excess of 1500 plants across a bunch of rooms in various states of growth, all of which have since been seized.

No doubt there’ll be a comment or two claiming “it’s just plants” or “ find some proper drugs”. What those people fail to take into consideration is the human trafficking, exploitation and violence linked to cannabis grows; especially ones of this scale. Then you throw into the mix those that tax these, usually armed with weapons and you have yourself a concoction of risk at every stage.

If you have any information in relation drugs or otherwise, feel free to call on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.
