Run by the excellent Ace Comics, Colchester Invasion is back.

The busiest day in Colchester I'm always told by local businesses.

This year I've spoken to the team to have Roman soldiers patrolling Castle Park to hopefully encourage more families to enjoy our local heritage (plus Asterix fought the Romans).

From the Ghostbusters, to Star Wars to the Dukes of Hazard, they'll all be there.

The charities money is being raised for are St Helena Hospice, Colchester and Ipswich Hospitals charity and MIND.

Tonight the Local Plan committee can vote for a new Local Plan, which protects Middlewick from housing, as well as other sites across Colchester.

We have already seen speculative development in the ward because councillors from other parties are refusing to make tough decisions.

The facts about a Local Plan are very simple: if you have one, you have much more control over where future housing goes. If you don't have one, you will get housing anyway and you'll have no control over where it goes, while costing the council millions in failed appeals.

Another bit of encroaching budleja cut back on Hythe Quay, with the majority of the plant left untouched.

This overgrowth was becoming a hazard as it obstructed the vision of anyone trying to cross the road.
