i have agreement from Colchester Council that people can use the Port Lane car park for free between tonight and the 26th, while the resurfacing works go on to help alleviate parking issues.

A bit of a walk for some but fortunately nice weather everyday.

I can confirm the works will be done in sections, so parking overnight will not be restricted along the whole road every evening.

However I'm still waiting for a simple timetable to share with residents - something that should have been done from the beginning.

I've regularly complained about the atrocious comms from Essex Highways and it appears they haven't learnt any lessons.

Extra Recycling capacity update ♻️♻️

After a few complaints to the right people I can confirm anyone who can't fit all their recycling in a wheelie bin can leave extra Recycling out in clear sacks (or if cardboard, against the bin).

Those without recycling wheelie bins have no limit on what they put out.

We've had concerns raised about the capacity of these bins as some of you recycle so much (which is great)

It was agreed previously by the Cabinet Member, Cllr Goss, and by his opposite number at the time, Cllr Scordis, to allow for extra Recycling if it would not all fit in the bin.

We're now being told different and are challenging this.

We'll keep you updated.

I've written to the cabinet member for libraries at Essex County Council about Reform's decision to remove displays for LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 and Black History month.

Local councillors have no right to decide what they think is best to display in our libraries, nor should they be denying people putting up information about support services for groups. This screams of censorship because Reform disagree with it.

📣📣Old Heath Road closures update📣📣

Old Heath Road is due to have resurfacing works overnight from the 17th.

Roadsigns have gone up suggesting there is to be no overnight parking throughout these nights, which is not feasible.

I've had it confirmed the work is being done in a phased approach but I now await these dates so residents can move their cars accordingly.
