Great news, Colchester! 🙌 Our FREE Saturday household drop-off service is back!

The service runs on selected Saturdays from April to August, visiting neighbourhoods across the city and giving residents an easy, no-cost way to dispose of small loads of household waste that can’t go in normal bins or bags. ♻️

It’s ideal if you’re having a clear-out, with space for things like broken furniture (not sofas), old shelving, or additional black bags from a big spring clean.

Collections start on 4 April in Greenstead and Wivenhoe, with stops across Colchester through the spring and summer.

⚠️ Please note: electricals, garden waste and upholstered seating (such as sofas) can’t be accepted at these collections, as they need separate disposal routes.

If your polling number starts AZ then your polling station is St Stephen’s Church in Canterbury Road.

If your polling number starts with AX then your polling station is the Salvation Army Citadel in Butt Road. The YMCA was not available.

Meet Chantelle Whyborn – Your Liberal Democrat Candidate for New Town and Christ Church

Chantelle Whyborn is standing as the Liberal Democrat candidate in the upcoming by-election for New Town and Christ Church.

Fifteen years ago, Chantelle moved to Colchester to study at the University. Like so many others, she fell in love with the town and chose to make it her home. She has raised her family here – her children attended the local infant school in the ward, and she uses the local shops and pubs, just like many of us.

Chantelle is passionate about making our community an even better place to live. She wants to work with the police to make our streets safer, especially for women; tidy up our streets and green spaces so we can all be proud of where we live; and provide an active, approachable voice for residents.

Out litter picking in the Recreation Ground in the children’s play area.
Sad to see so much rubbish considering there are two bins. It is not nice of children to play amongst soiled wet wipes, soiled plasters, cigarette butts and today a condom.
I had help from my grandson.
