Waking up this morning feeling incredibly grateful to have been re elected to represent New Town and Christ Church with a majority of 350 votes. Thank you so much to everyone who put their trust in me again. I genuinely don’t take it for granted.

Over the last few weeks I’ve had so many conversations on doorsteps, in parks, outside schools, at community events and in the street. People spoke honestly about the pressures they are facing, but also about their hopes for our community and what they want this area to become.

I’m incredibly proud to represent a community that cares so deeply about where we live and about each other.

Thank you to everyone who voted, everyone who spoke to me while I was out campaigning, everyone who delivered leaflets, put up posters, sent messages of support, looked after Theo so I could get out campaigning, or simply stopped for a chat and a bit of encouragement along the way.

Community campaigns are never built by one person alone.

There is still so much more we can create together for New Town and Christ Church, especially for our young people, our shared spaces and the future of our community, and I’m excited to keep going.

Now… tea first ☕💚

Hello, I’m Kayleigh, a mum, community organiser, and your local councillor.

This is my home. It’s where I’m raising my family, and where I’ve chosen to put my energy, working alongside people to make things better.

I believe the best change happens when we co create it together. Not decisions made at a distance, but people coming together, sharing ideas, and building something that truly reflects the community.

Through my work supporting families, I see every day both the pressures people are under and the strength that exists here. When that energy is brought together, it can create real, lasting change.

That’s what drives me. Bringing people together, working with the voluntary sector, securing funding for our community spaces, and turning ideas like the café on the Rec into something real. Everything I do is about creating opportunities with the community, not just for it.

I’m standing again because we’ve started something here, and there’s so much more we can build together, especially for our young people and the future of our community.

If you see me out and about, come and have a chat.

Let’s keep building it together. Let’s create change together.

Cllr Lee Scordis - Colchester City and Essex County Councillor

"The amount of times I've reported these potholes outside the Co-op on Wimpole Road and been ignored by Essex Highways is outrageous.

I've written to the new Cabinet Member for Highways asking for common sense to take precedence and get this section repaired."

📢 Community Update: Police Action in Albion Grove
Many residents have been raising concerns with us over recent months about suspected drug‑related activity and anti‑social behaviour linked to a property in Albion Grove. We have been liaising closely with those affected and passing concerns on to the police.
Essex Police have now carried out a targeted operation in response to this. Officers executed a warrant at an address in Albion Grove on Tuesday 3 February, seizing suspected Class A drugs and arresting a 35‑year‑old man. He has since been charged with being concerned in the supply of co***ne and crack co***ne and has been remanded in custody.
Neighbourhood Policing Teams have also been carrying out high‑visibility patrols in the area to reassure residents and deter further activity. Police have confirmed that safeguarding work has taken place and further enforcement and disruption activity will continue.
We know how distressing this situation has been for those living nearby, and we want to thank residents who came forward with information. Your reports played an important role in enabling this action.
If you have any further concerns or information, please contact Essex Police directly via 101 or report anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. This ensures information goes straight to the teams who can act on it.
We will continue to work with Essex Police and the council to support ongoing efforts to keep the area safe.

Cllr Scordis was out today salting roads. Golden Noble Hill is a steep road but isn't gritted.

Hopefully this is much safer.

Colchester Library is FINALLY back open 🥳🥳

I popped in to get some books and have a look around after the renovation. Updates include:

✅️A new sensory zone for children
✅️A more animated space for children
✅️Better displays for the adult section and a new layout
✅️A mini art exhibition upstairs

Libraries are one of the best buildings we have in society.

Free to all and the clear message that information is free to everyone, no matter your means.
