🌟 Welcome Back! 🌟

What a truly wonderful day it was to welcome all of our children back to school yesterday!

It was fantastic to see everyone looking so smart in their uniforms, showing off their new shoes and fresh hairstyles. Whilst many of the children seemed to have grown taller over the summer, it was lovely to see the same happy smiles, enthusiasm, and eagerness to learn that make our school such a special place.

We started the year together with a whole-school Welcome Back Assembly, inspired by Dolly Parton and her famous love of shoes! 👠👢👟

Our staff team shared some of their own special footwear, from clogs, Crocs and wellington boots to sparkly sequin boots and fabulous high heels. Together, we explored how the shoes we wear can tell a story about our personalities, experiences and journeys. Most importantly, we reflected on the positive steps we can take as we walk into another exciting school year, showing kindness, resilience, confidence and determination along the way.

The children have also been thoroughly enjoying the new playground markings and have already been making the most of the exciting opportunities they provide. We know many of you are eagerly awaiting the next phase of our playground development. Unfortunately, due to poor weather during the summer holidays, the installation company was unable to complete the work as planned. The good news is that Phase 2 is now scheduled to be installed during the October half-term break, and we can't wait to see it come to life!

Here's to a fantastic year ahead filled with learning, laughter, friendship and success. ❤️

🌟 The Mystery Winner Letters Are Ready! 🌟

The envelopes are sealed and ready to go home on Monday… but who will be our House Team Winner of the Year? 🏆

The winning house will be revealed during our special Celebration Assembly on Monday, so keep an eye out for your child's mystery envelope at the end of the day! 👀✉️

We cannot wait to celebrate all of the children's hard work and dedication throughout the year with a very special surprise trip on Friday! 🎉

Throughout the year, children earn individual House Points for their own achievements and rewards, but together those points contribute towards their house total. It is their collective effort, teamwork and determination that helps secure the title of House Team of the Year. ⭐

And that's not all! During Monday's assembly, we will also be celebrating: 🏅 Children with 100% attendance 🏅 Children who have achieved 250 House Points 🏅 Our incredible Word Millionaires 📚

There is so much to be proud of and so much to celebrate! 🎊

Watch this space... Monday is going to be a very exciting day! 🤩 🌟🏆📚🎉

🌞🦒 Year 1’s Zoo Adventure! 🦖🐍

Year 1 had a fantastic (but very hot!) day at Hamerton Zoo yesterday. Although many of the animals were trying to keep cool and hide from the sunshine, our children were super spotters and managed to find lots of them! 👀✨

During the day, we enjoyed a ride on the dinosaur train 🦕🚂 and took part in an exciting educational talk all about fur, feathers and scales. We even got to meet a corn snake and an armadillo called Nacho! Nacho stole the show as he scurried around the floor, leaving us all laughing and amazed. 😊

We made sure to stay fuelled and hydrated with plenty of lunch and water breaks throughout the day. Some of us even cooled down by dipping our heads under the taps! 💦☀️

It was definitely a long and tiring day, but one filled with learning, laughter and lots of wonderful memories. Well done, Year 1 – we hope you all had a good rest afterwards! 🌟👏

🌟We Are Proud to Be Part of the Primary Peace Advocate Project!

We are delighted to be one of the schools working with the Primary Peace Advocate Project, a registered charity that empowers children to become positive role models and advocates for peace within their school communities.

Earlier this year, all of our Year 5 children took part in a full training programme delivered by the project's founding members. Since then, Miss Hare, our PSHE Leader, has taken on the project and has been working with the children during lunchtime sessions to develop their ideas and make a real difference across our school.

💜 The Peace Project has got off to a fantastic start!💜

One of our first tasks was creating our group identity – the "Puzzle Peaces." Each member designed their own puzzle piece to represent their interests, talents, strengths and personal qualities. This was a wonderful way to celebrate what makes us unique while recognising that everyone plays an important role within the team.

The children have been using the ABCD decision-making process to make important group decisions, including agreeing on group rules and choosing the name of our worry box. This has helped them work democratically, value different opinions and ensure everyone feels included.

During our meetings, the children discussed what would make their sessions successful and agreed that the three key values are:

🎧 Listening
⭐ Confidence
🤝 Respect

They are now creating colourful posters to display during meetings as a reminder of these important expectations.

Another exciting development has been designing posters to display around school. These will help promote the project, explain what we stand for and encourage all pupils to live out our school values each day.

🐼 Peace Panda Worry Boxes🐼

We are especially proud of our new "Peace Panda" Worry Boxes. After selecting the name together through the ABCD process, the children designed these safe and welcoming spaces where pupils can share any worries or concerns. We hope they will help every child feel supported and remind them that their voice matters.

🎤 Coming Soon – Whole School Assembly!

The group is currently working hard on a PowerPoint presentation for a whole-school assembly, where they will introduce the Peace Project, celebrate their achievements so far and share their exciting plans for the future.

📚 Looking Ahead to September

We have an exciting challenge planned! Our Peace Advocates will become teachers for the day, delivering lessons to different year groups based on our school values. They are looking forward to leading activities, sharing their ideas and helping other pupils understand how they can demonstrate these values both in school and beyond.

We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, leadership and commitment shown by our Peace Advocates so far and cannot wait to see how this project continues to grow and positively impact our school community. A HUGE thank you to our amazing Miss Hare for all of her hard work and going above and beyond!

🌟 A Heartfelt Welcome from Our Wonderful Year 6 Children🌟

We are so proud of our amazing Year 6 children, who have taken the time to write heartfelt letters for the children who will be joining us in September.

What a thoughtful and caring idea! These special letters will be shared during our home visits, helping our new children feel excited, valued and, most importantly, that they already belong to the Cogenhoe family before they even walk through our doors.

The kindness, maturity and compassion shown by our Year 6 pupils is truly wonderful and reflects everything we are so proud of at Cogenhoe. ❤️

We cannot wait to welcome our new children and their families into our school community this September. At the same time, it is hard to believe that we will soon be saying goodbye to our fantastic Year 6 class. They have been incredible role models, and we know they will go on to achieve great things in the next chapter of their journey.

Thank you, Year 6, for showing such care and thoughtfulness—you are making a real difference already. 💙

🍫 Year 3’s Sweet Adventure to Cadbury World! 🍫

Our Year 3 children had a fantastic day at Cadbury World, combining learning, adventure and, of course, plenty of chocolate!
As part of their history learning, they took part in a specialised workshop all about the Ancient Mayans. The children enjoyed dressing up in traditional Mayan clothing and even had the opportunity to try out some Mayan sports.

The chocolate-filled fun then began as everyone sampled delicious melted chocolate with two toppings of their choice before creating their own chocolate masterpieces by writing their names in chocolate!

A visit to the exciting 4D cinema experience had everyone laughing and squealing as they felt as though they were riding a real roller coaster. To finish the day, the children enjoyed the interactive ride, collecting as many cocoa beans and bottles of milk as possible along the way.

As if that wasn't enough, every child went home with three full bars of Cadbury chocolate!

A huge thank you to our PTA for their generous contribution towards this trip. Your support helped make this memorable experience possible and allowed our children to have such a wonderful time. 💜

🎤 Hear it from the pupils themselves!

We sat down with two of our fantastic Year 6 children to chat about their primary school journey, favourite memories, and the experiences that have shaped them over the years. As they prepare for their next adventure, it’s a wonderful opportunity to reflect on everything they’ve achieved.

Take a look at what they had to say! 💙✨

This week, we were delighted to welcome the Life Education Bus to Cogenhoe as part of our annual programme of workshops for every year group.

These important visits form a key part of our PSHE curriculum, supported through our SCARF (Coram Education) programme. They help our children to learn how to lead healthy lives—physically, mentally and socially—while also developing positive relationships and strong self-esteem. The sessions are always engaging, informative and memorable, and our children gain so much from the experience.

Our Reception and Pre-School children especially loved learning their special handwashing song, helping them to understand why good hygiene is so important. They also enjoyed exploring which foods help to keep their muscles and bones strong and healthy.

Do take some time to chat with your child about the sessions this week and see what they can remember from both of our visitors—we’re sure they’ll have lots to share!
