At midnight tonight Cockermouth will sadly loose another great crew member.
CM Ian Foster will switch his pager πŸ“Ÿ off for the last time.
After 18 year’s Ian has decided it time to retire from Cumbria Fire & Rescue.
It has been an absolute pleasure working with Ian and I am sure everyone else in the service would agree he will be a huge miss, all at Cockermouth would like to thank Ian and his family and we wish them all the very best for the future. πŸš’πŸ”₯

Yesterday August 26th at 18:50 we were mobilised to a fire on Main Street, Cockermouth

On arrival the premises was well alight and therefore we requested assistance from our colleagues from,
Keswick fire station
Workington Fire Station
Maryport Fire Station

Due the scale of the incident we also requested Carlisle East Fire Station to attend with their Turntable ladder
Cumbria Police, NWAS, our joint incident command unit from Workington and our welfare unit also attended

Cockermouth appliance left the scene at approximately 23:00, and the incident was closed this morning after further inspection.

2 people were transferred to hospital for smoke inhalation and we wish them a fully recover

Thank you to the public for their cooperation during the incident and we hope the business owners recover quickly from the incident.
