You may have noticed on our socials that this week, we're celebrating Neighbourhood Policing 🥳
(And no, that doesn't mean we get a cake in the office every day - although I'm still hopeful)

It's actually a really important chance to shine a light on what neighbourhood policing is all about. Being your local neighbourhood officer isn’t just about responding to incidents—it’s about being out on patrol, getting to know the community, listening to your concerns, and working together to solve the issues that matter most locally. From tackling anti-social behaviour to providing reassurance and support, our role is very much about prevention, visibility, and building trust. 🤝

As part of Neighbourhood Policing Week, I’m pleased to share that we’ve secured additional funding through the Police and Crime Commissioner’s ongoing road safety work. This will allow us to install extra signage specifically targeting road safety and vehicle-related ASB across the Valley beat. These signs aren’t just for show—they’re designed to act as a clear reminder and deterrent in areas where concerns have been raised. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be placing them in carefully selected locations where they’ll have the most impact, based on community feedback, reports, and our local knowledge of problem areas. 🪧

As always, thank you for your continued support. If you see us out and about, feel free to stop and say hello, and please keep reporting any concerns!
You help shape the work we do every day. 😇

Neighbourhood Policing Week as a PCSO on the Bardon Beat 👮‍♀️🚓

This week I’ve been at HQ training on how we can be more effective in neighbourhood policing, focusing on problem solving and listening to our communities 👂🏽🧩

It’s also been a busy week on duty, dealing with shoplifting enquiries, foot patrol around Greenhill, road traffic collision management, and anti-social behaviour enquiries ⚠️.

As a PCSO, my role is all about being visible, supporting the community 🤝, and helping keep people safe, no two days are ever the same.

Tomorrow I’ll be at Thringstone Carnival, so if you’re visiting, please come and say hello 👋! I’ll be there for a chat or to offer crime prevention advice if needed. 💬

PC 1389 Russ and PC 70 James from Coalville neighbourhood team today attended a report of a wanted male being seen on CCTV in the town. The male had a lapse of memory and "forgot" that he was due to attend Court 🧑‍⚖️ earlier in June.

He was arrested for the warrant and it was also discovered he had committed a shop theft just before being arrested.

The male was charged with all offences and put before the Court at 2pm today. Sometimes the wheels of justice can move quickly 🚔

👮‍♂️ Neighbourhood Policing Update

Working with partner agencies is key to tackling crime and anti-social behaviour.

Yesterday, officers from the Bardon Beat joined colleagues from the NWLDC ASB Team to engage with residents on Church Lane in Whitwick. It was great to receive positive feedback from residents, and as part of our enquiries, a suspect has been identified for a recent criminal damage incident.

We’ll continue working together to keep our communities safe. ✅

Today PCSO 6686 Maddie alongside Cat Ridgeway, Community Safety Officer for North West Leicestershire District Council attended a business premises in Measham that had reported a cannabis smell coming from a neighbouring property. Enquiries were carried out and reassurance provided.

Cannabis is a Class B drug and its possession, production, and supply are illegal. The cultivation or use of cannabis can have a wider impact on local communities, including anti-social behaviour, unpleasant smells affecting nearby homes and businesses, and in some cases links to organised criminal activity. It can also pose health risks and impact quality of life for those living and working nearby.

We rely on information from the public to help us respond to concerns in the community. If you experience or witness something similar, please report it via 101, online at https://leicspolice.link/AyBeg, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Your information helps us take action and keep our communities safe.

💣 ERR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION 💣

The NN46 Beat Team and Tactical Support Team (TST) have been out in NEW PACKINGTON with Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), colloquially referred to as ‘The Bomb Squad’, this morning.

Police called for assistance from EOD following a report of possible unexploded ordnance being dug up at an address at the location. Whilst the Beat Team fondly recalled the famous poem by Baldrick, EOD quickly established that, whatever the suspicious object was, it definitely wasn’t going to go kaboom!

EOD have since removed the object, thank goodness.
