We’ve been waiting a long time to say this… 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝘁 & 𝗙𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 is coming back.

It’s fair to say the last couple of years haven’t exactly gone to plan.

Back in November 2024, the roof collapsed, forcing the Cat & Fiddle to close its doors.

In September 2025, work finally began to bring the pub back to life, and we were looking forward to reopening in March.

Then came Storm Chandra on 28th January.

The storm caused a major flood and, once again, we found ourselves facing another huge setback.

Hence the wellies… they've certainly earned their retirement!

But after everything this building has been through, we're finally getting very close to the moment we've all been waiting for.

The Cat & Fiddle is coming back.

There’s been a huge amount happening behind those doors, and over the next couple of weeks we'll be showing you what we've been working on — including the new-look Cat & Fiddle.

For now, we're keeping a few things under wraps…

So give the page a follow, share this with someone who remembers the Cat & Fiddle, and keep your eyes peeled.

The big reveal is coming very soon.

🐸🍏🌭 MINI FROGFEST IS COMING! 🎶

Freddie’s somehow convinced us that c***r + sausages + live music counts as a perfectly sensible Bank Holiday plan. We couldn’t find a good enough argument against it. 😂

🎸 SUNDAY 30TH AUGUST
Booster Music — live 6–8pm

🎤 BANK HOLIDAY MONDAY 31ST AUGUST
SHELLEY SMITH + special guest RICH FROM RECKLESS — live 4–7pm

🍏 A cracking selection of c***rs
🌭 Plenty of big sausages
🎶 Two days of live music
🍺 Pint tokens £5

And yes… Monday’s music finishes at the very responsible time of 7pm — because apparently some of you have to go to something called “work” on Tuesday morning. 🙄😂

Come hungry. Come thirsty. Bring your dancing legs.

Freddie will bring absolutely nothing useful. 🐸

**Reminder:** Dogs should not be exercised on the playing field behind the village hall in Clyst St Mary.
This is a shared space for children’s play and sports and, unfortunately, dog fouling continues to be an issue. Please help us keep the area clean, safe and enjoyable for everyone by exercising dogs elsewhere.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

August summary - The Bishops Clyst Parish Council meeting on 10 August 2026 agreed to continue objecting to several major housing and development proposals, citing conflicts with the Neighbourhood Plan and concerns about traffic and infrastructure. Councillors also discussed Devon’s local government reorganisation, changes to planning decision-making, the Community Use Agreement with Winslade Manor, and grounds-maintenance arrangements. The rising cost of the Greenspire Footpath project was highlighted, with efforts underway to reduce costs. Community issues included the allotments, emergency planning, highway drainage works and village car parks.
