Pain is common – talking about it isn’t. Let’s change that.

Chronic pain (also known as persistent or long-term pain) affects around 38% of people in Scotland, yet many people still find it difficult to talk about.

It’s a recognised health condition that continues beyond normal healing time and can affect every aspect of daily life – from work and relationships to sleep, mood and confidence.

Understanding pain is an important step towards managing it.

The more we learn about what is happening in our bodies, the more empowered we can feel to take positive steps forward.

Congratulations to NHS Golden Jubilee Senior Physiotherapist Madeleine (Maddy) Silcock on helping Team Scotland secure a bronze medal in the Women's Team Sprint at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Alongside caring for patients from across Scotland, Maddy has spent the past three-and-a-half years balancing a demanding NHS career with elite-level cycling, progressing rapidly through the sport to compete on one of the biggest stages of her career.

After helping Scotland secure its first Women's Team Sprint Commonwealth Games medal in 16 years, Maddy is now preparing to join the Great Britain Cycling Team as she works towards her ambition of competing at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 2028.

We're incredibly proud of everything Maddy has achieved and wish her every success for the future.

Patient Hub is a new digital service being introduced at NHS Golden Jubilee to improve how we communicate with cardiology and Scottish Adult Congenital Cardiac Services (SACCS) patients.

It will provide a simple and secure way for patients to view and manage their appointments online, including confirming attendance, cancelling, or requesting a new date.
