For many men affected by testicular cancer, the hardest part is often when everyone else thinks you’re “back to normal”.

You ring the bell. Treatment ends. People tell you how lucky you are. How strong you’ve been. How glad they are that you’re “ok”. But the reality can be very different.

We regularly hear from men struggling with the trauma of a cancer diagnosis, anxiety around recurrence, fertility worries, body confidence, identity, masculinity, the long term effects of chemotherapy, low testosterone, and the pressure to just “get on with it”. That’s why support matters.

At Cahonas Scotland, we support men beyond the diagnosis itself. From our “You’ve Got This” chemo care packs designed to make treatment that little bit easier, to peer support from others who have already gone through testicular cancer, to our Check In Room at Cahonas HQ, community get togethers, and our Check One Two podcast, which has become a support tool for many men and families navigating a diagnosis, we want people to know they don’t need to carry it all on their own.

Because surviving cancer and living with what comes after are not always the same thing.

We’re incredibly proud to share that Check One Two Podcast - The Lowdown on Testicular Cancer has been shortlisted at the Scottish Podcast Awards in both the Community Impact & Charity category and Best Artwork category.

What makes this so meaningful to us is that this podcast was never created to chase huge audiences or viral moments.

Check One Two exists because too many people affected by testicular cancer told us they felt isolated, overwhelmed, frightened, or unprepared for the reality of diagnosis and treatment.

The podcast has become a space for honest conversations around not just cancer itself, but fertility, masculinity, mental health, relationships, body confidence, chemotherapy, life after treatment, and everything that often goes unspoken.

Over the years we’ve received messages from people listening while sitting in hospital appointments, during chemotherapy, after diagnosis, or from family members trying to better understand what a loved one is going through.

This isn’t just a podcast people stumble across for entertainment. Very often, people find it when they genuinely need support.

For a small Scottish charity podcast focused on such a specific issue to receive recognition like this honestly means a huge amount.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their story, listened, supported us, and helped make Check One Two what it is 💙

In this powerful episode of Check One Two Podcast, we sit down with Chris Russell, a Scottish dad whose life was turned upside down by a devastating cancer diagnosis that left him unable to eat and fighting through intense treatment.

Chris opens up about the moment he knew something wasn’t right, the physical and emotional toll of his diagnosis, and how it’s impacted his family and day-to-day life. But this isn’t just a story about struggle it’s about resilience, determination, and refusing to be defined by cancer.

We also talk about why sharing real stories matters, the importance of early detection, and the conversations that could ultimately save lives.

A raw, honest, and inspiring listen.

Instagram just removed our testicular cancer self-check guide. Their reason? Nudity.

It’s a medical diagram. Created by a health charity. Designed to help men find cancer early. Early detection saves lives. Instagram’s algorithm apparently disagrees.

We’ve appealed. But whether they reinstate it or not, this is exactly the problem facing health organisations trying to reach the people who need them most. We’re being blocked from doing our job.

Scotland’s only dedicated testicular cancer charity. Censored for trying to save lives.

Please check yourself anyway. The guide is on our website. www.cahonasscotland.org

Two minutes. That’s all it takes. Get to know what’s normal for you, and if something changes, don’t ignore it.

Cahonas Scotland is Scotland’s only dedicated testicular cancer charity, and we’re here for the whole journey. From the moment something feels off, right through diagnosis, treatment, and life beyond cancer.

Massive thanks to Rangers FC for welcoming us in to deliver our life-saving education and awareness sessions earlier this month.

We had the privilege of speaking with the Under 19s, B Team, first team players and coaching staff, creating open conversations around testicular cancer, early detection, and the importance of checking yourself. These sessions save lives. Simple as that.

Brilliant to see players engaging, asking questions, and taking it seriously. That’s how we change outcomes.

This is what Tackling Testicular Cancer is all about, using the power and reach of football to break stigma and get men checking.

Proud to have the backing of clubs right across Scotland, alongside PFA Scotland and the Scottish Professional Football League, helping us take this message into dressing rooms, training grounds, and beyond.

Thank you again to everyone at Rangers for your support.

Right now, as you read this, Todd and Sian are out there taking on the London Marathon. Every mile. Every step. Every moment. All for Cahonas Scotland.

Todd isn’t just a supporter. He’s a huge part of who we are. A survivor, not once but twice, and someone who continues to give back in a way that genuinely changes lives. He gets it. He lives it. And today he’s putting himself through 26.2 miles to help others not face this alone.

Sian has been right there beside him through everything, and now quite literally beside him on the road today. That says everything.

This is what Cahonas is built on. Real people. Real stories. Real impact.

Todd, Sian you are absolute legends. We’re all behind you you both.

If you can, show them some love, share this, donate if you’re able. Let’s help push them over that finish line in every way possible.

And as always… check yer beans 💙

Our Community Engagement Officer, Paul McCaffery, returned to Larbert High School, where he was once a pupil, to deliver life-saving testicular cancer awareness sessions.

Paul is a survivor. He credits a self-check with saving his life, and now he’s making sure the next generation has that same chance.

This is exactly why we do what we do at Cahonas Scotland. Turning lived experience into real impact in classrooms across the country.

If even one young man checks himself because of this, it’s worth it.

Huge thanks to Rangers FC for supporting Tackling Testicular Cancer today.

Seeing this message taken onto the pitch, into dressing rooms and out to fans across the country is exactly how we break down stigma and reach the people who need to hear it most.
