After leaving the RAF Keith joined the family business to work alongside his dad as a plumber.

But when his relationship with his partner broke down he began to struggle with depression, turning to drink and drugs and getting into serious debt.

After a serious accident left Keith unable to work he reached out to RBL for help.

"I was down to my last bag of rice, so I rang RBL. They sent me £250 in food vouchers straight away, and then a Case Officer came out."

Our Benefits, Debt, and Money Advice team helped Keith assess his debts and file for bankruptcy in 2020. They also supported him with a benefits appeal, securing £9,000 in Universal Credit back payments.

"Since the bankruptcy, I have been able to get my nose in front for the first time in years," says Keith.

"I would urge any ex-service personnel to do the same as me, I see veterans on the streets and I would just encourage them to reach out and ask for help."
