🍵 new iced matcha 🍵

New, smooth, fresh, and delicious - matcha - has just dropped here at the Caves!

Our new iced matcha is single-origin, ceremonial grade… blended with milk and our Monin syrups for the perfect balance of earthy, sweet and fresh flavours. Ceremonial matcha means bolder, more robust flavour profiles, yay!

✨ Single-origin ceremonial-grade matcha
✨ Smooth vanilla notes
✨ Served over ice
✨ Made with love

Before we finish, we’d like to mention that we’re always looking for new volunteers to join our team.

Today we welcomed a very special visitor, Jeannette, a direct descendant of Francis Forster.

Francis played a huge role in our history - he commissioned many of our remarkable cave paintings and was also the first owner of the house to discover the Caves beneath his garden!

Jeannette and her husband travelled all the way from Australia to learn more about the Forster family and their time in Margate.

Pictured here in the garden, standing beside the original floor tiles from Francis's house, are Jeannette, Angela (our Lead Volunteer) and Harriet (one of our Duty Managers).

A wonderful end to a brilliant Half Term week. Thank you to everyone who visited us!

We'll be back open from 10am on Wednesday. We look forward to welcoming you then.

Margate this Bank Holiday weekend is expected to be scorching,
the Caves are the perfect place to cool down when it gets a bit too hot! 🌞

The temperature usually stays at around 12 degrees all year round - which is why you'll see our volunteer guides wearing coats, even on the hottest of days.

So why are the Caves cool? Because they are hewn out of the chalk, a porous and permeable rock which acts as an insulator, preventing significant temperature fluctuations.

We are open every day this week, including the Bank Holiday Monday from 10am, last entry to the Caves is at 4.30pm.

Looking for volunteer opportunities? We'd love you to join the team! 🤩

Anyone who's seen our reviews will know how incredible our volunteers are...not that we're bragging or anything! The Margate Caves run on Volunteer power; we're very lucky to have such an enthusiastic and dedicated team and are currently searching for more people with passion.

If you're interested in contributing or developing your customer service skills, we have the following areas to assist in:
- The Caves (train as a Caves Guide)
- Our Café (being surrounded by yummy cake and coffee isn't the worst!)
- Crafts (Messy Mondays and more)
- Our gorgeous garden (we're currently very excited about our resident Bees!)
- Fundraising (we're always looking for ways to keep the Caves open and well maintained for future generations)

We're a small and friendly local charity so please do pop in for a chat and an application form!

We're also hosting a Volunteer Information Session on Wednesday 3rd June, to register interest please email [email protected]
