Preston Sea Cadets are seeking urgent support for new trustees and a Treasurer to join their management team.

Who are we?
Preston Sea Cadets helps local young people aged 10-18 learn new skills, make friends for life and build confidence both on the water and off the water with real-life qualifications.
We're entirely volunteer led and meet twice a week at our site on Strand Road.

Why are we reaching out?
As a registered charity, it is critical that we have a management team in place that oversees our group to ensure safety, compliance and fundraising.
We need a volunteer from the community to take on the role of Treasurer, working with our Chair and the rest of our management team.

Dear Residents of Whittle-Le-Woods,

We are looking for CCTV after an elderly male was knocked over by a person on an Ebike on Chorley Old Road.
This happened near to the scout hut on Saturday the 7th of March between 8:30-9pm
If you have an footage please let me know and I will send you a link to upload.
Just to let you all know that we are working with the Council and the Road Policing unit to help reduce this type of incident along Cholrey Old Road. We actually have a walk round this afternoon to highlight problem areas and look at possible solutions. We will never eliminate the problem of speeding and ebikes but we can look at measures to slow road users down.

Thanks

Cath & Lauren

Dear Residents,

Please can we make you aware of a recent shed break that occurred between 12.30-1.00 am on Wednesday the 4th March.
The property was just off Preston Road in Clayton Le Woods, near to St Bedes Church.
The offenders have gone over the back garden fence and broken into a garden shed and removed 3 bicycles from within. Then made their way back over the fence and onto Gardenia Close then Forsythia Drive. We are unsure if they went towards Chorley or Preston.
There were 3 offenders all in dark clothing with some hi viz patches on the legs and shoulders. From the footage we have the offenders seem late teenagers and are slim/ medium build.
We are asking for you to check CCTV cameras between midnight and 1.30 am on the 4th of March.
If you have any information to help locate these bikes or have any CCTV footage then please get in touch. If you see the bikes being ridden you need to ring 101 or 999. Bike descriptions are:

Bike 1 adults KONA bike grey/gold
Bike 2 adults KONA bike in grey/pink
Bike 3 youth Transition bike in electric blue

Please make an effort to lock and secure your bikes. Chain them together and to something that isn't movable. We do bike marking events at different locations throughout the villages so please come along to the next one. If you would like any bike crime prevention advice please let us know.

Many Thanks,
Logan

A big thank you to Lancashire’s community crimefighters!

We just wanted to share some great news! Thanks to your support, Lancashire has seen a record rise in people sharing information with Crimestoppers over the last nine months.
Reports from local residents are up 26.9% compared to the same period last year, which is the highest we’ve ever seen. It shows more people than ever are choosing to speak up anonymously to help keep their neighbourhoods safe.
Between October and December alone, there were 649 more reports than the same time last year! A lot of this information related to drug dealing and drink driving, which really helps us target key issues through operations like Op Warrior and Op Limit.
We’re also seeing more young people using Fearless, Crimestoppers’ service for under-25s, to share what they know without giving their details.
All this extra information makes a massive difference. It helps officers tackle offenders, protect vulnerable people and disrupt crime across the county.
Detective Chief Superintendent Derry Crorken said:
“Our communities are our eyes and ears. Every single anonymous report helps us understand what’s happening, protect people and bring offenders to justice. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who has come forward, and to Crimestoppers for their continued support.”
Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw added:
“It’s clear that more people than ever in Lancashire are stepping up and refusing to let crime go unnoticed. These reports aren’t just numbers — they represent individuals choosing to do the right thing to help keep their communities safe.”
We’ll continue working closely with Crimestoppers to tackle everything from shoplifting and anti-social behaviour to drug dealing, modern slavery and drink driving.
If you have any information about crime, you can contact Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org

We are inviting residents in Chorley and South Ribble to help shape how Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service keeps our communities safe.

Our Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP) sets out how we will deliver services over the next five years. At this stage, there are no proposed changes, we are simply seeking views on what matters most to local people.

Your feedback will help ensure our services reflect local needs. There will be a further, more detailed consultation later in 2026.

You can take our short survey (it takes around five minutes to complete) here:
www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/LFRS26
The survey closes at 5pm on Sunday 15 March 2026.

Every response plays an important part in helping us plan for safer communities.
