Perhaps the oldest ghost story in St Osyth - the story of the Anglo-Saxon princess, Saint Osyth. After vowing a life of faith, she was martyred by raiders at her convent in Chiche. According to local legend, she miraculously walked back to the door of her church, carrying her own severed head. Is there any truth to the legend and how does it pertain to the village's name?
