We have another busy month ahead, our volunteers are undergoing further assessments.
Wednesday night saw our crews taking our D class out in some challenging conditions to practice boat handling.
When they got back they looked like they really enjoyed it, a bit wet but with very big smiles.

Our lifeboat operations manager went to church today.
Carlo went to St James to meet up with one of our volunteer crew members to present him with his pager.
Fr Matt Simpkins is the RNLI Chaplain for Clacton on Sea lifeboat and also crew.
His next role is to move from shorecrew to afloat crew.
Carlo said “to have a chaplain at our lifeboat station is something very special, to have a chaplain who is going to be lifeboat crew is very special.
As a station we are trying to build stronger links with our community and what better way to start than with the local church.”
Fr Matt is organising a mass on
Sea Sunday which is a global day of prayer, reflection, and appreciation for seafarers.
The mass is on Sunday 12th July.

Many congratulations to Bradley who has just been appointed as our new social media officer.
Bradley will be responsible for bringing our social media pages to life and promoting our lifeboat station.
Already crew on both of our lifeboats he will be able to get a “close up” aspect of the work our lifeboat station does.
Well done Bradley, good luck with your new role.

What a busy weekend for our lifeboat crews, really encouraging to hear that someone used our “Float to Live” advice and is safe and well. A huge well done to our colleagues at RNLI Southend.

Swim safe is happening again.

Have registered your interest in getting children to learn to swim.

Turn social media off, look up “Swimsafe”.

Children get to enjoy a fun, structured swimming session at a choice of open water locations – and learn all about how to stay safe.
The 60-minute session is run by qualified lifeguards and instructors, and includes:
* Water safety advice provided by qualified lifeguards on land.
* Up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with qualified instructors.
* All the right kit for swimming outdoors (including swimming hats, wetsuits, and swimming aids).
Who can attend?
Swim Safe is open to children aged 7-14.
Participants must be able to swim 25m unaided in deep water. Depending on your child's development and swimming lesson provider they may achieve this between stage 4 and 6 of the Swim England learn to swim programme.
A parent, guardian or teacher must be present throughout the session.

To register your interest in Swim Safe, fill in our online form on the Swim England website.

Why is Swim Safe needed?
Every year, RNLI lifeguards and lifeboats race to the rescue of children and adults who find themselves in difficulty in and near the water.

🌊 Float to Live 🌊

The Float to Live campaign shares a simple message, but it’s one that could genuinely help save lives around our coastlines.

Please take a moment to read these steps, talk about them with family and friends, and share this post to help spread the message further. You never know who might need this advice one day.

Every year, people get into difficulty in the water after the sudden effects of cold water shock. Your instinct may be to panic, swim hard or fight against the water, but the safest thing you can do is Float to Live.

If you find yourself struggling in the water:

✔️ Tilt your head back with ears submerged
✔️ Relax and try to control your breathing
✔️ Use your hands to help you stay afloat
✔️ Don’t worry if your legs sink — we all float differently

Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety if you can.

📞 If you see someone in trouble, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
