St John Ambulance Clacton on Sea

St John Ambulance Clacton on Sea We are Clacton on Sea St John Ambulance Youth unit. Training future life savers and serving our community.

St John Ambulance responds to health emergencies, supports communities, and saves lives. As a volunteer-led health and first aid charity, St John Ambulance has relieved people from illness, injury, distress and suffering for over 140 years and, with the public’s support, will do so for decades to come. We have a deep heritage of caring, compassion and health. We tirelessly promote the relief of si

ckness, distress and suffering and help others at some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives. Our promise is concisely summed up by the motto of the Order of St John: Pro Fide, Pro Utilitate Hominum – “For the faith, for the service of humanity”. We are proud of the work we do and how we do it:

Serving humanity without judgement
Taking time to care
Being skilled to meet health needs
Developing new and better ways to preserve and protect life. Our promise and our activities are underpinned by our values, which set out ‘the way we do things’ at St John. Our values
The way we achieve our vision and strategic goals really matters to us. Our values, which guide our thinking and actions and underpin all our actions, are:

Humanity – treating others with compassion and respect
Excellence – pride in doing an excellent job
Accountability – delivering what we promise
Responsiveness – continuously learning and improving
Teamwork – working together effectively

Collectively, our values spell out HEART – an important reminder that our people and shared values are at the heart of what we do: the heart of St John.

This week is volunteers week, so we would like to take this week to give some recognition to some of our many volunteers who truly deserve recognition and thanks for their commitment and hard work.

Our volunteer for today is, Karl.

Karl is one of our Youth Leaders and our Former Unit Manager. Karl has been appointed to be the New Network Lead for the North Essex Community Network!

Karl started St John Ambulance as a cadet when he was 10 years old. Now, he is a full time Nurse and one of our Youth Leaders, Trainers and our Network Lead!

Karl says, “So, I joined as a cadet at the age of 10, attended lots of events locally and across the county. I have had a few roles which include cadet leader, DofE leader, County and Regional officer and now back to Network Lead. I have seen many changes over the years but the aim of St John hasn’t changed:- to provide first aid and training to the community.”

Karl has worked really hard for the Network and the Unit, often working behind the scenes to ensure fluency with our programmes and services - both for the public and our volunteers.

Thank you Karl and happy volunteers week!

This Week, starting from June 2nd and following through to June 8th, is volunteers week 2025!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our hardworking, dedicated and committed volunteers from Clacton and Across the Network and District.

Volunteers, such as our First Aiders, Unit management, Youth Team and cadets - are the reason we are able to train members of the public, support our Youth and provide care at events.

Their Hard work and dedication is the reason we are able to do what we do and we couldn’t do it without you.

So we would like to thank all volunteers, especially our amazing volunteers at Clacton and St John Ambulance as a whole - we are so grateful!

Happy Volunteers week!

Learn CPR…

In the UK, fewer than 1 in 10 people survive a cardiac arrest.

That’s not good enough, and it’s why we’re working towards a day where everyone has the skills to save a life.

With widespread CPR knowledge, we can change these odds and save more lives.
