Bath Road, Langford: Road Closure and Temporary Traffic Lights

North Somerset Council has advised of upcoming traffic restrictions on Bath Road, Langford, from 16th October to 6th November 2026.

The works involve excavating approximately 90 metres of the verge and carriageway to install a new water main serving the housing development.

The traffic management will take place in two phases.

Phase 1: Road closure

From 16th to 22nd October 2026, Bath Road will be temporarily closed to vehicles while the initial works take place.

Location: From Hazel Dene, approximately 40 metres north, to the field beyond Elm Grove Cottage.

Access will be maintained for emergency services, works vehicles and properties that can only be reached through the closed section, where the works allow.

Phase 2: Temporary traffic lights and 20mph limit

From 23rd October to 6th November 2026, the road closure will be removed and replaced with two-way temporary traffic lights.

A temporary 20mph speed restriction will be in place through the traffic lights.

Please allow extra time for journeys through the area, particularly during busy periods, and follow the temporary traffic signs and speed restrictions.

The works are expected to take approximately 22 days in total.

For questions about the works, contact [email protected].

Ladymead Lane One-Way System to Continue During A38 Works

North Somerset Council has confirmed that the temporary one-way system on Ladymead Lane will continue as part of the ongoing works at the Churchill traffic lights.

A new traffic order comes into force on 28th September 2026, with the one-way restriction expected to be required for approximately 27 weeks.

What does this mean for drivers?

Ladymead Lane will remain one-way between the A38 Bristol Road and Turnpike Close.

Traffic will be permitted to travel south to north only. This means:

• You can enter Ladymead Lane from the A38 Bristol Road and travel northbound.

• You cannot travel southbound along this section of Ladymead Lane to exit onto the A38.

The restriction is being put in place for public safety and to allow the works at the Churchill traffic lights to continue.

Alternative route

For journeys that would normally travel southbound along Ladymead Lane, the alternative route is via Ladymead Lane, Pudding Pie Lane, B3133 Stock Lane and A38 Bristol Road.

The restriction is expected to be needed for around 27 weeks, although it will only remain in place for as long as required by the works.

Please follow the temporary road signs and allow additional time for journeys through the area.

For questions about the works, contact North Somerset Council’s BSIP team at [email protected] or call 01934 888 888.
