🔥 Yesterday saw a busy day for the station with Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service having one of the busiest days of the year so far🔥
At the start of the day the crew were mobilised to Barnstaple on standby due to a large ongoing incident at the waste recycling centre in Bideford.
On route to Barnstaple the crew were mobilised to a small fire in the open but shortly after got re-mobilised to a derelict building fire at the Holiday Park alongside Woolacombe Fire Station Braunton Fire Station and Coombe Martin.
Crews worked tirelessly to extinguish the fire in the heat using lots of different equipment to do so including breathing apparatus, hose-reels, 45mm jets, ladders, small tools and thermal imaging cameras. Eventually the property was under control with limited fire spread and 1 pump was left on scene to monitor the building
🚒 Later that afternoon once returning to station, the crew were then mobilised to a large vehicle fire which on route was confirmed as a Combine fire but had also spread to the field. On arrival the combine was well alight but crews alongside Witheridge Fire Station and Okehampton Fire Station managed to stop the spread on the fire. Everyone made a brilliant job of making sure the fire didn't spread to the rest of the field. Unfortunately the combine was 100% damaged.
