🚨 Mobilisation🚨

L54P2 attended two incidents in the Chorley area last night.

At 18:22hrs, L54P1, L54P2, L53P1 (Bamber Bridge) and L55P1 (Leyland) were mobilised to a house fire on Gloucester Road, Chorley.

On arrival, crews found an electric mobility scooter on fire. The resident had removed the scooter from the property prior to fire service arrival, preventing further fire spread within the home.

Two casualties were treated by firefighters for smoke inhalation and subsequently handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service.

These type of incidents highlight the importance of prompt action during emergencies and the need for working smoke alarms in the home.

At 20:38hrs, L54P2 was mobilised to a fire in the open. Crews discovered a portaloo well alight on a building site. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.

Today, a crew from L54P2 were out and about in the community carrying out a variety of activities.

The day included some off-site training, where firefighters practised using the roof ladder to maintain vital operational skills, alongside carrying out community fire safety duties.

On returning to station, the crew headed straight to the drill yard for more training, this time pitching the 13.5m ladder to continue developing teamwork, confidence and competence.

Training plays a huge part in ensuring our firefighters remain ready to respond whenever the community needs us. πŸš’

With warm weather expected to continue across Lancashire this weekend, many people will be heading outdoors to enjoy the sunshine.

As temperatures rise, please remember a few simple steps to stay safe and help protect Lancashire:
β€’ Open water can be colder and more unpredictable than it looks. Please avoid swimming in lakes, reservoirs and rivers.
β€’ Dry conditions increase the risk of wildfires. Leave BBQs and campfires at home and pack a picnic instead.

Our crews are on duty 24/7, but we all have a part to play in keeping ourselves, others and Lancashire safe.
Let's enjoy the sunshine responsibly and look after Lancashire together.

🚨 Multi Agency RTC Exercise 🚨

Last night, our on-call crew took part in a large-scale road traffic collision exercise involving multiple vehicles and a number of casualties.

We were joined by crews from Bamber Bridge Fire Station, Carnforth Fire Station and Skelmersdale Fire Station, alongside our colleagues from North West Ambulance Service.

Exercises like these are vital in ensuring that emergency services can work together effectively during complex and challenging incidents. By training together, we improve communication, coordination and decision making, helping us provide the best possible outcome for casualties when real incidents occur.

The drill gave crews the opportunity to practise casualty extrication, scene management and multiagency working in a realistic environment, while also identifying valuable learning points to take forward into future incidents and training exercises.

A big thank you to everyone involved in organising and taking part in the exercise. πŸš’πŸš‘
