Care Home Open Week is all about bringing people together, and we are looking forward to welcoming local people to Astley View from 15–21 June.

Throughout the week, visitors can take a tour of the home, meet our team and enjoy a programme of activities inspired by sport, music and community connections.

We are delighted that the Mayor will be joining us during the week, alongside families, community partners and local organisations, helping us celebrate the important role care homes play in supporting older people and their families.

From fitness sessions and football-themed activities to live entertainment and Father's Day celebrations, the week reflects the varied and meaningful experiences residents enjoy throughout the year.

There is no need to book an appointment to visit the home. Simply pop in, take a look around and learn more about life at Astley View Care Home.

We marked the D‑Day anniversary with a thoughtful craft afternoon, bringing everyone together to create poppies, paper aeroplanes, doves of hope, and some beautiful watercolour paintings. As we worked, residents shared memories and stories, all while enjoying classic treats like Victoria sponge and scones with jam and cream. With 1940s music playing in the background, the room filled with gentle reminiscence, creativity, and connection, a lovely way to honour the day.

Motivational Morning Euphoria dance session, what a great way to start the day 💃🕺💃

Didn't we have a lovely time the day we went to Birkacre garden centre. Despite the weather forecast we managed to bring the sun on our day trip out. Our residents marvelled at the beautiful peonies, dahlias, clematis, hydrangeas, delightful hanging baskets and the stunning David Austin roses. One resident commented that she had mentally spent hundreds as she walked around. After seeing the blooms we had worked up quite the appetite and we enjoyed a selection of soup and sandwiches in the cafe. A wonderful afternoon exploring nature's beauty and making memories.

We enjoyed a deliciously mindful afternoon with a cheese‑tasting session, complete with crackers and plenty of curiosity. Everyone took their time exploring each cheese, rating the texture, smell, and taste to slow the experience down and really notice the details. It sparked great conversation, a few surprises, and lots of smiles. A tasty activity that turned into a lovely moment of connection and sensory enjoyment.

If you've ever wondered what life in a modern care home is really like, Care Home Open Week is the perfect opportunity to find out.
From 15 - 21 June, local people are invited to visit Astley View Care Home in Chorley, take a tour of the home, attend one of our activities or simply join us for a cup of tea and a chat with our team.
Throughout the week, we will be hosting a range of activities inspired by sport, music and community connections, including our Mandy Motivator fitness session, Kick it with Kyra football activity, a screening of the 1966 World Cup Final, a football tournament, a picnic party and garden social, live entertainment from Just Joe, and Father's Day activities including mini golf and boules.
