Resolution to refuse Burrfield Drive housing
A resolution to refuse planning permission has been made by Bromley Council following the submission of an application to build 350 dwellings on designated Green Belt land south of Burrfield Drive.
The resolution was made as part of the ongoing planning process on the application for the site in St Mary Cray. The proposal to build substantial housing on green belt land was considered inappropriate by the council, in line with Bromley’s Planning Policy.
This resolution has now been referred to the Mayor of London and the Secretary of State as they are able to intervene in the decision at this point. Following this part of the usual planning process for such applications, the council would then be able to issue a decision in the coming weeks.
Councillor Yvonne Bear, Bromley’s Executive Councillor for Renewal, Recreation and Housing, said: “This is a completely inappropriate development on the borough’s cherished green belt land, which is why we have issued this resolution to indicate our intention to refuse the application. We will continue to protect Bromley’s green belt by fighting unsuitable greenbelt developments through our planning process.”
The resolution to refuse was issued by the council under delegated powers rather than through the usual committee process after the applicant refused to agree a further extension of time to determine the application at the next available Development Control Committee.
