Chairman Alan Lion recognises the service and dedication of the NHS and emergency services on 999 Day.

Our deep appreciation for all those who serve
"Today, on Emergency Services Day – also known as 999 Day – we join communities across the United Kingdom in recognising the exceptional dedication, courage and professionalism of those who serve within the NHS and emergency services.

This national day of recognition provides an important opportunity to express our sincere gratitude to those who work tirelessly to protect lives, respond in times of crisis and support the safety and wellbeing of our residents.

Their commitment is evident every day of the year, often in the most challenging and demanding circumstances.

999 Day also reminds us of the importance of using emergency services responsibly, of learning essential lifesaving skills, and of recognising the many career and volunteering opportunities within the wider emergency services family.

Volunteers, including special constables, retained firefighters, NHS Community Responders, St John Ambulance volunteers, RNLI crews, search and rescue teams and coastguard volunteers, make an invaluable contribution to public safety and community resilience.

On behalf of Epping Forest District Council, I wish to place on record our deep appreciation for all those who serve in the NHS, police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and wider emergency services. We are grateful for their bravery, compassion and unwavering commitment to protecting and supporting our communities.

It is therefore with pride that we raise the 999 Emergency Services Flag today at the Civic Offices in Epping, as a visible symbol of our respect, gratitude and continued support for emergency services personnel and volunteers, both locally and nationally."
Councillor Alan Lion, Chairman of Epping Forest District Council

It is always sad when it is reported that something has been vandalised in the town. We know it is not what the residents of Ongar want but it appears that it keeps happening. Today it has been reported that the new rubbish bin at St Peters Avenue Play Area, was vandalised by a group of children yesterday. Prior to doing this they were playing football and then turned their attention to destroying the new bin. They were captured on CCTV and it will be reported to the Police.

Such a lovely display celebrating the Ongar and District Twinning at the Epping Forest Museum in Waltham Abbey.
