On 14th May Chipping Campden Community Trust were delighted to launch funding support for 'Pass Plus' at Chipping Campden School. Pass Plus is a government supported programme to provide additional driving skills, particularly to young drivers, in real world driving conditions. This includes driving in bad weather, in the dark, on country roads and on motorways. It comprises six one-hour sessions with approved driving instructors, going beyond the basic driving test skills, and leading to a certificate, which can sometimes reduce insurance costs for young drivers.

The launch event at Chipping Campden School was attended by well over one hundred Year 12 (Lower Sixth) students, many of whom are starting to learn to drive. Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service and Gloucestershire Constabulary were also in attendance to support the Pass Plus launch. Chipping Campden Community Trust, as well as the School Trust, will be funding a number of Pass Plus places for students.

Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue brought a fire engine with them, which was called out to a real emergency with some of the Firefighters during the presentation! There was a very hard-hitting presentation delivered by their Road Safety team, identifying the high risks that young drivers and their passengers face on the roads, and providing practical advice to minimise these risks. Both Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue and Gloucestershire Constabulary were very supportive of the Pass Plus scheme. It helps to prepare young drivers by improving vital driving skills. The launch was also attended by two local driving instructors who can provide Pass Plus training.

Paul Wyatt, a trustee of Chipping Campden Community Trust, said, “We are delighted to have worked with Chipping Campden School and to have such great support here today to launch the funding of Pass Plus places for young drivers at the school. We believe that this initiative will help to prepare the students for driving on our roads and are very grateful to the School, the School Trust and Gloucestershire Fire & Rescue Service and Gloucestershire Constabulary for their support and for embracing the proposal that we brought to them.”

The feedback from students after the launch was extremely positive and a number of them have already applied for Pass Plus funding.

Chipping Campden Community Trust - CCCT was pleased to be able to support Chipping Campden Surgery with a grant towards the information reel running on the television screen in the waiting room last month.
Dr Zamir thanked the Trust and said "this is an item for which no central funding is available but we feel it is an invaluable resource for our patients to keep them informed about the latest health advice, to promote vaccine programmes and generally inform how best to use NHS services."
The Trust is pleased to be able to support the residents and organisations in Campden Vale in need of assistance.

Chipping Campden Community Trust are pleased to have been able to give grant support to Court Barn Museum’s Community Engagement activities this year.
The museum had a fantastic season for “Turn the Page”, especially for the Shakespeare-themed discussion and coffee morning on 22nd February and for Christine Cluley’s reading and lecture on her new book about Lady Dorothie Fielding on 8th March.
Still to come on 10th May is local illustrator Jason Brown who will be reading from his children’s books and running a workshop for families to learn how to draw the monsters from his books! Definitely one not to miss!
In the autumn the Trust’s grant will be used to facilitate educational visits to local primary schools by the Museum.

Chipping Campden Community Trust is a local charity helping and supporting the young, older and the more vulnerable people in the local North Cotswold community. You can read more about its work here: https://www.campdencommunitytrust.org/
Recently, it was very pleased to be able to support The Campden Quilters with a grant towards PAT equipment to enable them to check their electrical equipment to ensure it was safe to use.
The Quilters recently held their 10th Anniversary Exhibition and sent this lovely feedback to the Trust:
"we are most grateful to Chipping Campden Community Trust for their support last year enabling us to purchase our own testing equipment. The 10th Anniversary weekend exhibition was extremely successful and enabled us to raise funds for the Sue Ryder charity and enable our members to show their work to the wider public", commented Christine Smith, Chairman Campden Quilters.
