As the GCSE examination season comes to an end, we celebrate our Year 11 students and everything they have achieved.

This is a year group that began secondary school during the COVID-19 pandemic, facing challenges and uncertainty from the very start of their journey. Despite this, they have shown resilience, determination and strength throughout their time at CHS.

We are incredibly proud of the young people they have become and all they have accomplished over the past five years. As they complete their final exams and look ahead to the future, we wish them every success.

Year 11, Class of 2026 – your journey has been unique, and your achievements deserve to be celebrated.

As part of Knife Crime Awareness Week, Chichester High School welcomed PC Pack to deliver an informative session to our Year 9 students.

The presentation explored the laws surrounding knife crime, the dangers of carrying weapons, and the potentially life-changing consequences of making poor choices.

The session complemented topics that Year 9 students have been studying this term, including the British justice system, the Crown Court, law and punishment, and rehabilitation. It provided a valuable real-world perspective on issues discussed in the classroom and encouraged students to reflect on personal responsibility and community safety.

In PSHE, we have also launched My Aspirations – an exciting new platform designed to give pupils a voice and an opportunity to share their thoughts, feelings, goals, and ambitions with us. This innovative initiative will help us better understand and support each individual student, enabling us to provide relevant opportunities such as trips, guest speakers, mentoring, and careers-related experiences that align with their interests and aspirations.

We are looking forward to seeing how My Aspirations helps our students develop their confidence, explore their potential, and work towards achieving their future goals.

Inter-Services Cricket Event

Despite the challenging weather and the disappointment of the cricket match being cancelled, Chichester High School students enjoyed a fantastic day at the Inter-Services Cricket Event.

The students had the opportunity to hear from inspirational speakers, take part in a range of command and leadership challenges, experience airsoft activities, collect a variety of promotional items, and even sample authentic army ration packs.

It was an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone involved, and we look forward to attending again next year.

Towels and Sheets Needed 💚

Over the past few weeks, we've been dealing with a bout of flu amongst some of the cats in our care. The good news is that everyone is on the mend and things are finally starting to return to normal. ❤️

However, caring for poorly cats means we've gone through far more towels and sheets than we normally would, and our stocks are now running very low.

With over 110 cats currently in our care, we get through a huge amount of bedding every day and would be incredibly grateful for any donations of towels and bed sheets (no duvets or pillows please).

Donations can be dropped off directly at The Centre in Sidlesham, which is our preferred drop-off location. Alternatively, donations can be left at any of our charity shops, please just label them "For The Centre" so they make their way to the animals🐱

As always, thank you for your continued support. Donations like these make such a difference and help us provide comfort and care to every cat that comes through our doors 😘

Over the last term, several students have been attending the after-school Textiles Club with Ms D’Rozario, where they have developed a wide range of creative skills and produced an impressive variety of projects.

Activities have included dye-sublimation printing, designing and making sun hats, and exploring the art of needle felting.

Students have also been refining and developing their own ideas, experimenting with different media, materials, and techniques to create work inspired by natural forms.

Through these projects, they have demonstrated creativity, perseverance, and a willingness to explore new approaches to textile design.

Sports Day Programme Competition

A huge thank you to all the students who entered our Sports Day Programme Design Competition. We were incredibly impressed by the creativity, effort and talent shown in every submission.

After much deliberation, our judges selected the top three entries:
No particular order….

Hayley (8MCO)
Annie Paffey (7RBJ)
Simone Cordero (8OTU)

Congratulations to all three students for their fantastic designs.

We are delighted to announce that the winning design was created by Simone Cordero (8OTU), whose artwork will feature as the official programme cover for this year’s Sports Day.

Well done, Simone, and thank you to everyone who took part.

We look forward to an exciting Sports Day and celebrating the many talents of our students both on and off the field!

Our Year 10 geographers visited West Wittering today to collect fieldwork data to support their GCSE studies.

After an initial downpour, students were able to complete a beach profile survey and sediment analysis before worsening weather forced us to seek shelter and eventually return to school.

To avoid a complete washout, the remainder of the fieldwork activities and data collation were completed in the classroom. Well done to all students for their resilience and enthusiasm in challenging conditions.

For students who were unable to attend, or who were unable to collect all the required data, videos of the fieldwork methods will be uploaded to the Year 10 Geography Google Classroom.

A true example of geography in action – whatever the weather!

A great effort from all of the Chichester High School U15s girls.

After playing the first half outside, they adapted brilliantly to moving indoors due to the weather.

Their teamwork and positive attitude were excellent throughout.

Well done to everyone involved.

This advice is useful to everyone, however you use the water.

It has helped save the lives of more than 50 people in all sorts of situations. From children in rip currents to runners falling into canals, from people swept out by waves, to fisherman falling overboard.

The best way to float is to tilt your head back with your ears submerged. Try to relax and breathe normally. You can gently move your hands and legs to help you stay afloat if you need to. Spread your arms and legs out to improve stability – and it's OK if your legs sink, we all float differently.

Once your breathing is under control, call for help or swim to safety.

Practise floating in a supervised location like a swimming pool.
