1435 Theatre & Museum, where people and stories meet - coming later in 2026! 1435 brings together entertainment and heritage under one roof, in a multi-million-pound transformation designed to delight, inform, and entertain. There is also a small art gallery, and a programme of temporary exhibitions and events throughout the year.

This photograph was taken outside the Station Hotel in 1942, during the Second World War. The gentlemen stood outside the Hotel with two donkeys are wearing plaquards advertising 'dig for victory campaign'.

A serving bowl from the Picture House Cafe. The Winding Wheel was originally the Picture House cinema which opened in 1923. The building included a restaurant/ café. The cinema became the Odeon in 1938 and the restaurant became known as the Odeon Restaurant.
