CANCELLED - Wingerworth Village Produce and Craft Show

The Parish Council has taken the regrettable decision to cancel the Wingerworth Village Produce and Craft Show which was due to take place this weekend.

Sadly, like last year, the prolonged period of hot weather has led to a poor growing season and resulted in very few applications for entries.

Rather than holding a show that has a poor turnout and before spending any further money on the event and refreshments, it was thought best not to proceed.

A lot of work has gone into advertising, promoting and preparing for the event over the past few months to generate applications and interest, but sadly there remains little enthusiasm in the community to take part in the show.

I know some people who will be disappointed by this decision and we sincerely apologise to them for the inconvenience.

A big thank you to everybody who has offered to help and support the event.

Again, if you can help to spread this message, I would be grateful.

NOTICE OF CO-OPTION FOR WINGERWORTH PARISH COUNCIL

Notice is hereby given that ONE vacancy has arisen in the Office of Parish Councillor for the Wingerworth Ward of Wingerworth Parish Council.

The vacancy is to be filled by co-option at the next meeting of Wingerworth Parish Council. This meeting will be held on Tuesday 10th September at 7pm in Wingerworth Parish Hall.

To qualify to be a Parish Councillor, a candidate must…

- be a British citizen, Commonwealth Citizen or EU Citizen.

- aged over 18 years.

- a registered local government elector.

- not be disqualified from holding office as a Councillor.

- for the whole of the last 12 months, lived in or within 3 miles of the Wingerworth Parish OR

- for the whole of the last 12 months , occupied as owner or tenant any land or premises in the Wingerworth Parish OR

- during the last 12 months, had your main or only place of work in the Wingerworth Parish.

Previous experience or knowledge of being a Parish Councillor is not essential, but candidates should have a keen interest in the Wingerworth Parish and a willingness to serve the best interests of the community.

Attention gardeners, flower arrangers, bakers, crafters and artist!

The Wingerworth Produce and Craft Show will take place on Saturday 5th September.

Join us between 2pm and 4:30pm to celebrate local talent, creativity and homegrown produce.

As well as showcasing the entries, there will be a raffle and refreshments on offer.

We are encouraging advanced applications to help us prepare, but entries on the day are welcome between 8am and 10:30am.

Judging will start at 11:30am.

A reminder to book your FREE place for the Defibrillator Demonstration at the Parish Hall on Tuesday 11th August.

The Community Heartbeat Trust will be showing you the basics of using a defibrillator and CPR to save the life of somebody who has suffered a heart attack.

The demonstration promises to be informative, engaging and interactive.

You will also have a chance to ask questions of the qualified trainer and familiarise yourself with an actual defibrillator.

💓DEFIBRILLATOR DEMONSTRATION - 11TH AUGUST 2026💓

Join us at Wingerworth Parish Hall for a Defibrillator Presentation and Demonstration by the Community Heartbeat Trust.

Taking place on Tuesday 11th August 2026 with doors opening at 4:30pm for a 5pm start.

Learn how a defibrillator and basic CPR can help save your life or somebody you love.

This is a FREE and inclusive demonstration that will last up to 90 minutes.

After the demonstration, you are invited to familiarise yourself with a defibrillator device and ask any questions of the qualified trainer.

Booking is required.

APPLICATIONS FOR STALLS AT THIS YEAR'S CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAYRE ARE NOW OPEN!

Are you a Wingerworth-based crafter? Would you like a stall at this year's Wingerworth Christmas Craft Fayre?

The deadline for applications is 28th August 2026 and all applications will be reviewed in early September. We will then be in touch to let you know if you have been successful.

Please do not assume you have a stall until you have confirmation from the Parish Council.

The number of stalls is limited and we will review applications to make sure that a wide range of crafts are on offer.
