What happens to your food waste after it's collected? 🍌

As part of Recycle Week, we're following the journey of your recycling and today we're looking at what happens when food waste is sent for composting.

When food waste is sent for composting from North East Derbyshire, it goes to Arkwright IVC, where it undergoes a carefully managed composting process known as in-vessel composting.

After a minimum of eight weeks, the process produces a high-quality soil improver that can be used on agricultural land to help improve soil structure and support plant growth.

Every food caddy collected has the potential to become a valuable resource.

To help make this possible, it's important that only accepted food waste goes into your caddy. Items such as plastic, glass and metal can contaminate the process and affect the quality of the finished product.

From Recycling Bin to New Paper ♻️

As part of Recycle Week, we're following the journey of your recycling and today we're shining a spotlight on Palm Paper Limited, one of the companies helping to give recycled paper and cardboard a new life.
