Ware Road and Broxbourne Day Services, along with friends and family, came together to enjoy a great day out at the seaside at The Hut in Felixstowe on 24th April 2019.

The first is a series of trips to the seaside for everyone from both services to enjoy between now and August.

Hope you enjoy the pictures that we took of some of our favourite sights.

We can't wait for the next trip in May!

Thanks to fundraising events and generous donations from individuals and local businesses, we raised enough funds for to buy a Tovertafel, otherwise known as a magic table.

The Tovertafel is a ceiling-based projector that shines multi-coloured lights down onto a table. People sit around the table and react to the lights, which then respond to hand and arm movements.

The Tovertafel was originally designed to connect people living with dementia to others and to their surroundings, at the same time as stimulating movement.

However, the magic table has proved to be very popular with everyone, not just those living with dementia, and is extremely inclusive and jolly good fun!

Cassie, our Day Service Organiser, said: “One gentleman who comes to the service does not engage very much with others around him, but he sat at the magic table for well over half an hour the other day and he was completely engrossed with the activity.”

Carole, our Assistant Manager, said: “It’s been amazing to see the groups coming together and helping each other to play the games. It makes your heart melt to see people’s facial expressions and how engaged they are with the activity and with the other people around them.”

“I think it’s brilliant and by far the best thing we’ve ever had for engaging the people who use our service.”

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who helped us to raise funds by coming to our events, contributing raffle prizes and for your generous donations.
