If you want to make a difference in your community and be part of a highly trained emergency response team, now’s your chance to join HM Coastguard in Chepstow.

⏳ Closing Date: 19th July 2026 at midnight

As a Coastguard Rescue Officer in Chepstow, you’ll respond to a range of emergencies including:
🔦 Lost and missing persons
🌊 Water rescue
⚠️ Mud rescue

And much more!

You must be over the age of 18 and hold a full UK manual driving license.

HM Coastguard Chepstow were called out to reports of 2 people and a dog on a sandbank in the River Severn near Broadoak.

A member of the public dialled to report concern for their safety, reporting that the group was surrounded by water.

Specialist Coaatguard Rescue Officers were sent to the scene along with a Coaatguard Rescue Helicopter and lifeboats from Severn Area Rescue Association - Sharpness Lifeboat Station

Coastguard Rescue Officers carried out an immediate search of the area, and identified 1 person on a sandbank.

The Coastguard Helicopter arrived on scene, the area was cleared and additional enquiries by Rescue Officers identified that the persons reported were safe on land.

HM Coastguard Chepstow were called out to investigate concern for the welfare of a Paddleboarder in the Severn Estuary near Collister Pill.

A concerned member of the public dialled to report their concern.

Coastguard Rescue Officers completed area searches and enquiries between Collister Pill and Goldcliff Point.

Investigations quickly identified a false alarm with good intent.

Chepstow Coastguard stood down at 1330hrs

Teams were stood down enroute to scene following further information from Gwent Police
