Great first meetup of 2025 this morning for our new Magor and Caldicot club in Monmouthshire and only the clubs' second meetup.
Unfortunately a few who attended Novembers meetup were absent today due to other commitments. However, with a few new members this morning, the club is successfully reaching out to more veterans at every meetup. The club still had twelve attendees enjoying the company, food and banter military style.

What an excellent turnout for our Bridgend Club breakfast meetup this morning. Twenty seven veterans got together to share some good banter, a good scoff and win a few prizes along the way.
A few new faces at the club meetup today, so we hope you all enjoyed yourselves, plus, £105 raised in the raffle, so thank you all for that. This was also bolstered by a £75 donation from local Councillor Martyn Jones who took time out to sell hand made poppies around his office, much appreciated Martyn.
The clubs next meeting is in February so look forward to seeing you all then. In the meantime check in on one another, particularly those that you may know who are struggling or maybe isolated. It's what the club is all about.
Well done all !

What a cracking first meeting for our newest club located in Wotton Under Edge and Charfield in South Gloucestershire. We were all blown away by the support for the brekkie meetup yesterday.
A real credit to those who put the hard work in organising the event and in reaching out to bring so many Veterans together.
Well done all.

With most Armed Forces Day events wrapped up for this year, last week the Combined Armed Forces and Veterans Breakfast Clubs group finally took delivery of the new group parade standard and with a fine gathering of 200 members and guests at our Abergavenny Club our standard went out on its first parade.
The Abergavenny team were fantastic in their organisation and management of a superb Armed Forces Day event for the second year running. The standard was paraded and led by our highland piper, followed by the club standard bearer and culminated with a toast to King Charles III
With a brass Band driving the music followed by an excellent local band playing covers an excellent afternoon in the sun was enjoyed by many.
Well done the Abergavenny CAFVBC team.

Anyone in the business of memorial headstones or have any veteran connections?

I am trying to get quotes for one to mark a First World War soldier's unmarked grave in my local historic cemetery in Charfield. He does not qualify for a CWGC one as he died a month after being discharged and medically unfit and they don't feel his death was linked to his service or the gunshot he received at Neuve Cappell (I've been back a forth with this one so that is a dead end)

So I am working with some ex-Mercians (the unit into which his unit eventually became- he was Worcestershire Regt) and hopefully we can get some funding and get the regiment behind a crowdfund.

I have two quotes (From Cattle in Gloucester and HJ Jefferies in Bristol) but need at least one more and not getting much back from other efforts.

If you can help, please get in touch

Many thanks

This is Arthur story for interest.

Congratulations to Leslie Caine, a senior member of our Abergavenny club who has been awarded the Christmas Island medal for his deployment to the Atomic Tests on the island in 1957.
Also, well done to our Abergavenny club who has acheived public recognition in their community. Here the club demonstrates, how the collective proactivity of its team and members has stregthened the clubs' links with their own members and the local community itself. This has been acheived by consistent enthusiasm in serving the community and more importantly, the club members by working together and being there for each other.
As Peter Farthing says in the article, it's all about being proactive with the advertising and volunteering as a club, with the local community, plus running a good ship gives the club more spread by word of mouth.
It takes a bit of work but is very satisfying.
