More illegal e-bikes were seized yesterday (Thursday) as part of our continued efforts to tackle anti-social e-bike riding.

PCs and PCSOS from the team worked alongside colleagues from the Drone Unit and Reactive Investigation Team and in total four e-scooters and three e-bikes were seized.

The team are continuing to take part in activity aimed at targeting the amount of illegal e-bikes and e-scooters being ridden in the town.

In particular there has been a recent rise in people riding privately owned e-bikes and e-scooters on roads, pavements and across open spaces.

Privately owned e-scooters and e-bikes that exceed the legal limits all require road tax, vehicle insurance, and a valid MOT to be ridden on public land due to being treated as motor vehicles by law.

Electric bikes should not exceed 250 watts and the maximum speed which the motor can legally assist the bike whilst pedalling must not exceed 15.5mph or 24.94 km/h.

In addition, the electric motor should not assist the bike to exceed 3.7mph or 5.95km when unassisted (e.g. the rider is not pedalling).

Anyone breaking the law risks a £300 fixed penalty notice, six points on a driving licence, and your illegal electric bike or scooter being seized and destroyed.

Over the past few days, Special Sergeant Watt and Special Constable Turner have been out on patrol across Cheltenham, volunteering nearly 40 hours in just one week — a fantastic contribution to keeping our communities safe.

During their shifts, they have:
• Attended two road traffic collisions
• Assisted in the search for a suspected drink driver who made off from the scene
• Supported an arrest for breach of a Domestic Violence Protection Order
• Responded to a suspected break-in in progress in Charlton Kings
• Attended a report of a male seen with a knife in Cheltenham
• Dealt with an incident involving youths throwing eggs

Did you know? Special Constables are warranted volunteer police officers, with the same powers as regular officers, who give up their time alongside their day-to-day jobs to support policing.

Our Special Constables come from all walks of life — including the nuclear industry, healthcare, parents, retirees, students, and fitness professionals, to name just a few.

We'd like to speak to two males who may have picked up a lost watch from a Cheltenham street.

The owner of a Tag Heuer Professional watch contacted officers to see if the item had been handed in. He believed he had lost the watch, which is of sentimental value, on Regent Street on Tuesday 5 May.

No watch has been handed in but CCTV operators in Cheltenham had seen a male on Regent Street at around 2.20am on Monday 4 May stop to pick up a watch off the floor. He was with another male at the time and they both then continued walking.

Officers would now like to speak to the two males as we believe they may be able to help return the lost watch, pictured below, to its rightful owner.

The males are described as being white, in their 20s, with both wearing black trousers, black jumpers and black jackets. One of the males had short black hair, while the other had thick, light brown hair.

We're appealing for witnesses and information after a man sexually assaulted a girl outside a Cheltenham café last month.

It was reported that on Thursday 14 May at around 8pm, an unknown man approached a 17-year-old girl and her friend, who were sat outside the café on Regent Street, and asked them for directions.

The man then sat down next to the teenager and placed his hand on her thigh without her consent.

A member of the public then approached their table and told the man to leave them alone. He said he recognised the man and had seen him following some girls earlier that day, who had been very distressed and scared.

The suspect then left the table and ran away.

The suspect was described as being white, aged in his mid to late 20s and of a slim build, with messy, ginger-toned hair.

He was wearing a brown coloured satchel with a strap across his chest and a sage green jacket which had shoulder pads. He was also carrying a mobile phone in a black fabric flip case with a magnetic clasp.

CCTV enquiries have taken place, however investigating officers are asking anyone who may have any relevant footage to get in touch.

They're also asking anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who may know who the man is to make contact with them.

It is understood that there have been no further reports made to police involving a suspect who matches this description, however officers are keen to hear from anyone who may have experienced similar incidents.

Illegal e-bikes were seized yesterday (Wednesday) as part of an operation to tackle anti-social e-bike riding.

We joined forces with officers from the Rural Crime Team, Drone Unit and Reactive Investigation Team for a day of action and outcomes from the operation included:

• Two illegal e-bikes being seized. One of them could reach speeds of 30 miles per hour!
• A shoplifter was also detained at Gallagher Retail Park and suspected stolen goods were returned
• Three stop searches took place and we’re pleased to say everyone passed

The team are continuing to take part in activity aimed at targeting the amount of illegal e-bikes and e-scooters being ridden in the town.

In particular there has been a recent rise in people riding privately owned e-bikes and e-scooters on roads, pavements and across open spaces.

Following on from community intelligence where a knife was located in Yalta Close, Cheltenham Neighbourhood Team 3 were out on foot today.

We focused our efforts on a thorough sweep of Hester's Way Park as part of our ongoing commitments to Operation Sceptre.

Operation Sceptre is a national initiative where police forces take proactive, intensified action to reduce knife crime, remove dangerous weapons from our streets, and educate our communities.

As a reminder, dedicated amnesty bins have been placed at police stations across Gloucestershire.

Before bringing a weapon to an amnesty bin, please wrap it securely in a few sheets of cardboard or newspaper to prevent it piercing through, and seal it tightly with tape.

This week, we’re once again taking part in Sceptre – an initiative which sees police forces across the country take intensified action to reduce the number of knives on our streets and educate people, in particular young people, about knife crime.

This Sceptre, officers and PCSOs will be carrying out additional patrols in targeted areas; carrying out knife sweeps in the search for hidden weapons; and taking our Neighbourhood and Community Engagement Vehicles out across the county from where they’ll provide advice and reassurance to members of the public about knife crime.

Our Youth Engagement Officers will also be delivering inputs on knife crime to both primary and secondary school pupils which will include highlighting the real life consequences that can come with carrying a knife.

Dedicated amnesty bins have been placed in police stations around the county for anyone who wants to dispose of a knife or bladed article.

To hand a knife or bladed article in, use a few sheets of newspaper or cardboard to wrap around it, ensuring that there is enough material to prevent it piercing through. It should also be sealed with sticky tape to stop the knife being easily removed or falling out of the wrapping.

You can find your local amnesty bin at the following station:
