PLEASE AVOID SOUTH HANNINGFIELD TYE GREEN ⚠️
Residents are advised not to enter South Hanningfield Tye Green until further notice, as several oak trees in the area have been found to be affected by Oak Processionary Moth (OPM) caterpillars.
The caterpillars and their nests can pose a risk to both people and animals. Their tiny hairs can cause:
• Itchy skin rashes
• Eye and throat irritation
• Breathing difficulties in some cases
Please help keep yourself, your family and your pets safe by following this advice:
🚫 Do not touch the caterpillars or their nests.
🚫 Keep children and dogs away from the affected area.
🚫 Do not attempt to remove or disturb the nests yourself.
🐕 Remember that caterpillars and nests may also be on the ground, where pets can come into contact with them.
The affected trees are being managed by the appropriate authorities, and further updates will be provided as soon as they are available.
