It’s Ask about Asthma week!
4 asks for Asthma

1. Does your child have an asthma action plan?
– if not please contact your GP to get one.

2. Do you and your child know how to use their inhaler?
Correct technique is one of the most important things you can do to keep your child well.

3. When did you last attend an annual asthma review?
Your child should be having an asthma review once a year and after every attack because this will help them to manage their symptoms.

4. Have you considered Air Pollution and its impact?
Air Pollution can trigger asthma but knowing the triggers can help you to manage them. What could you do differently to reduce air pollution in your area?

Is your child ready for the move to secondary school? Are you? It’s a daunting time and it’s only natural to have feelings of uncertainty or overwhelm.

But by taking a few simple steps you can help yourself, and your child, feel calmer and more ready for the change.

Try:

🛒Encouraging independence – adjusting to secondary school is largely about initiative and independence and your child needs to find their own way. Help them build trust in their own abilities by increasing their responsibilities within the family.

🎒Getting prepared – visit the school website so you know what to expect. Do a dry run of the route to school so it feels familiar by the time the first day comes along. Buy and label uniform and equipment and get them to practice packing their bag.
