The cost of parking at Beaulieu Park Station, combined with a peak-time weekday return fare to Liverpool Street, leaves commuters paying £8.60 more per day than if they travelled from Chelmsford Station and used its car park.

For someone commuting to London three days a week and taking four weeks of annual leave, that adds up to £1,238.40 in extra costs every year compared with using Chelmsford Station.

This issue is driven by two factors:

1. Parking charges set by Chelmsford City Council.
2. Rail fares set by Greater Anglia.

Millions of pounds of public money were invested in the construction of Beaulieu Park Station. Yet, with current pricing making it significantly more expensive than nearby alternatives, there is a real risk that the station will be underused and fail to deliver the benefits it was built to provide.

Please sign this petition and call on both Chelmsford City Council and Greater Anglia to review their pricing policies. Fairer parking charges and rail fares would make Beaulieu Park Station a genuinely attractive and viable option for local commuters, helping to maximise the value of this major public investment.

Today, on the anniversary of D-Day, Chelmsford Conservatives join the nation in remembering the extraordinary courage and sacrifice of those who took part in the Normandy landings on 6 June 1944.

We pay tribute to the servicemen and women, including those from Essex and Chelmsford, who answered the call of duty in the fight against tyranny. Their bravery, alongside that of our Allies, helped secure the freedoms and democratic values that we cherish today.

As the number of surviving veterans grows ever smaller, it is more important than ever that we remember their service, honour their sacrifice, and ensure that future generations understand the price that was paid for our liberty.

We will remember them.

Lest we forget.

It’s the wrong plan, in the wrong places, for the wrong reasons.

The Lib Dems want to concrete over more of our countryside and squeeze even more development into our villages. But here’s the question they won’t answer:

If developers aren’t building on the sites they’ve already been given, why would handing them even more land solve anything?

The current plan is already falling short because developers aren’t delivering. That’s not Chelmsford City Council’s fault. Yet the Lib Dem answer is to grab more fields and put more communities at risk.

🏡 Village identities under threat.

🚗 More traffic, but no new roads.

🏥 More houses, but where are the GP appointments?

🏫 More families, but where are the school places?

It’s the same tired formula: build now, worry about infrastructure later.

Even more frustrating, brownfield sites in Chelmsford city centre are still waiting to be properly developed. Instead of prioritising those opportunities, the Lib Dem administration is targeting villages and rural communities.

And once again, residents who raised concerns have been ignored.

This Local Plan looks less like sensible planning and more like a land grab that dumps inappropriate development on communities while the infrastructure desperately needed to support it is left behind.

That’s why Conservatives voted against it.

Chelmsford deserves homes where they’re needed, infrastructure before expansion, and a council that listens to residents—not one that bulldozes ahead regardless.

Another busy weekend out speaking with residents, this time joined by our Party Chairman Kevin Hollinrake MP and Shadow Secretary of State for Transport Richard Holden.

We’ve been meeting residents across Springfield to support David Wilkinson, our candidate in the election on Thursday 18 June.

A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to stop and chat with us. It was great to hear your views, discuss the issues that matter most locally, and receive so much positive support on the doorstep.

This version is a little more polished, positive, and focused on engagement with residents.
