We can't wait to welcome 2 authors to our school on Friday but there is SO much more going on throughout the weekend. Please do check out the different events happening across St Austell....

Last year’s quiz was one of the highlights of the festival. Families loved standing shoulder to shoulder with their author captains to try and win a fabulous stack of signed books. Have you got your tickets? https://staustellfestivalofchildrensliterature.com/event/the-big-festival-quiz-2026/ no

Today we celebrated LOTS of Shining Stars and presented 10 Headteacher's Awards – considerably more than usual!

The reason? Eight children were absolute superstars during our Voice 21 Oracy visit this week. Their confidence, communication skills and enthusiasm really impressed our visitors. You can read more about their achievements in this week's newsletter.

As many of you know, during our Friday Celebration Assembly, the children nominate the songs we listen to as we enter and leave the hall. This week it was my turn to choose, and the decision was obvious – Taylor Swift's brand-new song written for the upcoming Toy Story 5 film!

What impressed me even more was that Mr Altoft actually recognised it was Taylor Swift before I told him... a remarkable achievement in itself! 😄

Well done to all of our award winners and shining stars this week. We're incredibly proud of you all. ⭐

Have a great weekend,

Mrs Lee-Elkins

🌟 Well done to this week’s Shining Stars! 🌟

This week’s theme was Teacher’s Choice and it was wonderful to hear the wide range of reasons why children were selected. From showing outstanding kindness and resilience, to producing excellent writing, maths work and creative ideas in class, every achievement truly deserved celebrating!

We also loved welcoming three boys from Year 5, who came to proudly share their incredible artwork. Their creativity and talent were amazing to see and they spoke so confidently about their work 🎨🖌️

What a fantastic way to end a brilliant term. We are so proud of all our children and everything they have achieved.

Well done everyone. Have a lovely break. We are looking forward to seeing everyone back in school on Tuesday 2nd June 🌈✨

🌟 History Detectives in EYFS! 🌟

Our EYFS children have been busy stepping back in time as part of their learning about Houses and Homes. 🏠
They explored a fascinating Victorian household box from the Royal Cornwall Museum, using their detective skills to investigate each object. The children had fantastic discussions about what the items might have been used for and how they are different from things we use today.
We were so impressed with their curiosity, thinking and brilliant ideas- what amazing history detectives!

Thank you so much to all our EYFS parents who came to watch the children perform their songs, retelling The Three Little Pigs.
The children were absolutely amazing and sang beautifully. It was also lovely to welcome you back into the classroom afterwards to look through the children’s writing books and see the fantastic progress they have made this year.

Thank you for your continued support. We are incredibly proud of all the children and the hard work they have shown.

Having welcomed Brannel School to Charlestown Primary today, we are really looking forward to welcoming Penrice Academy and Poltair School later in the week.

The Y6 children looking are forward to finding out lots about their future schools! 🌟

Primary Transition Visits ! 🚏🚐

📸 Mrs Hole, our dedicated Year 6 Transition Lead, is on the road this week, joined by some of our fantastic current Year 7 students. We are visiting Tywardreath School, Bishop Bronescombe C of E School, Charlestown Primary School, and Mount Charles School, with more primary school visits to follow after half-term.

These visits are all about bringing the Penrice experience to life. By including our current Year 7 students, we’re giving Year 6 pupils the chance to hear first-hand what it’s really like to start their secondary journey - easing nerves and building genuine excitement for what’s ahead.

There’s something incredibly special about peer-to-peer reassurance, and we’re so proud of our Year 7 Transition Ambassadors for representing Penrice with such confidence and warmth. 💛

We can’t wait to meet even more of our future students this week, helping them to feel supported and ready for this next chapter in their education.
