Once again honesty in politics comes under the magnifying glass. Whether at a national or local level you can be sure that your green representatives will not be involved in dodgy donations, fraud or unprincipled behaviour.

Yesterday's packed Westminster Hall debate saw MPs from across the political spectrum discuss the Joint Intelligence Committee's National Security Assessment on biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse.

A huge thank you to the thousands who contacted their MP ahead of the debate, asking them to push for:

➡️ A proper plan to cut emissions, restore nature and prepare for a changing climate.

➡️ Publication of the intelligence assessment on nature and security, and the Government's food security review.

➡️ A funded resilience plan, with independent oversight to ensure it's delivered.

The public are ready. This year, 1.6 million people took part in Great Big Green Week, the UK's biggest ever celebration of climate and nature action - a clear message that people want a country more resilient to a changing climate.

This was the Government's chance to match that appetite, protecting our food, farmers and national security. The will is there in our communities. Now's the moment to build on it.

MPs across the spectrum spoke out: Adrian Ramsay (Greens) warned we've "gambled with global stability... and the safety of human life"; Roz Savage (Lib Dems) said "ecosystem collapse is a security threat"; Neil Hudson (Conservatives) noted biodiversity is "very close to our hearts and the hearts of our constituents."

Our members echoed the urgency too - the Climate Majority Project called for immediate publication of the National Security reports and a funded Strategic Adaptation plan, while Zero Hour urged the Government to make this central to its 10-year plan for Britain.

Today's shout out out goes to Community Champion Tim Eggins.

Tim has always been driven to do what he can to improve the local area.
Fighting for nature, supporting local businesses, helping community groups, making sure families have food, being a flood warden and a bikeability volunteer. Clearing drains, planting trees, raising money for many charities and speaking up for those who need it.

Community Champions keep Chard going and Tim plays his part, putting others first.

Today's shout out goes to Community Champion Serena Wootton. There can't be many people who have had such a positive influence on hundreds of families across our town and has given so much to improve where she lives.

She has pushed for better dental services, supported those in need, battled flood waters, volunteered in the food bank, worked with the police and helped keep our neighborhoods clean. Hosted events, coordinated vital services and spoken up for the needy. She leads the way and inspires others.

Chard would be worse off without Serena.

An interesting write up in today's Chard & Ilminster newspaper.
Councillor Richard Wilkins claims that "no planning decisions have been based on an out-of-date report" If that is the case, then the planning committee must have used updated information to pass the development of 67 homes on the A358 Hornsbury Hill. This is the information that the public are asking to see.
