Built as part of the Chard Regeneration programme and located on the Boden Mill site, Chard Leisure Centre boasts a five lane swimming pool, learner pool, café, indoor soft play adventure, a gym and studios. The centre is operated by Freedom Leisure - one of the most successful and growing not for profit leisure and cultural trusts in the UK - on behalf of South Somerset District Council.

For Older Non‑Swimmers Ready to Make a Splash
We’re excited to launch our brand‑new Beginner 7+ class — perfect for older children who are just starting their swimming journey.
This class takes place every Tuesday at 17:15 in the main pool, taught by the lovely Leo.

In this class, swimmers will:

Build confidence in the water with gentle beginner skills

Learn how to move safely in the main pool with basic body control

Start developing the foundations for independent swimming

Have fun while learning with Leo’s supportive teaching style

If your child is 7+ and new to swimming, this is the perfect place to start.
