📣📚💿 Good news for AUDIO BOOK fans. Pictured are some newly arrived library AUDIO CDs for you to choose from 😁

No CD player? No problem! Or even if you just prefer it, we also have a great selection of AUDIO PLAYAWAY BOOKS. Easy to use, each device is pre-loaded with an audiobook, no need for WiFi or internet. You simply need 1 x AAA battery to listen through your own headphones, speakers or your car, connected via a universal jack. (Low cost headphones available from Bowdens).

You can also borrow library audiobooks via BorrowBox, our free digital service. So many ways to entertain your ears! 😁

Chagford Library is a drop off point for 'Recycling for Good Causes' so you can recycle your unwanted items and raise money for Libraries Unlimited at the same time.

Thank you to everyone who has already responded to Devon County Council’s Consultation into the future of Devon's library service. If you haven’t yet completed the questionnaire, go to https://devonlibraries.commonplace.is/ to respond, or fill in a paper copy in the library or collect one from Blacks. The deadline for return is 22-Feb-26.

Of course any response should reflect your own views but you may find the attached overview & recommendation helpful. In summary the Friends recommend:

- SUPPORT the proposed 6 HOURS opening for Chagford

- ASK TO KEEP CHAGFORD’S 3 SESSIONS A WEEK ON THEIR CURRENT DAYS AND TIMES, which is within the 6 hours of funded opening that DCC proposes, and REJECT the 2 SESSIONS PER WEEK proposed

- OPPOSE the use of VOLUNTEERS TO REPLACE CORE STAFF HOURS

- OPPOSE the ideas of COMMUNITY-MANAGED LIBRARIES; the REDUCTION in NUMBER OF WEEKS OPEN; the REDUCTION in the NUMBER OF LIBRARIES; and VOLUNTEER-RUN LIBRARIES.

The questionnaire and the Friends’ Observations & Guidance can also be collected from the library. Alternatively you can respond online so may like to view the Observations and Guidance attached here. Children’s questionnaires are available in the library or online.
