Next Tuesday 22 September, the leadership of the Wales Pension Partnership (WPP) is meeting in Carmarthen.

If you can, join the protest outside the WPP Meeting next Tuesday at County Hall, Castle Hill, Carmarthen (SA31 1JP) at 9am.

We must keep up the pressure on the WPP to divest from all companies enabling Israel’s crimes against Palestinians.

Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) funds, administered by councils in Wales, are investing hundreds of millions of pounds in companies enabling Israel’s genocide, military occupation and apartheid against Palestinians. This includes companies supplying Israel with weapons, and companies active in Israel’s illegal settlements built on stolen Palestinian land.

Over the last 18 months, we have made huge progress in the campaign for divestment. Half of local councils in Wales have passed a motion supporting divestment from companies involved in Israel’s crimes.

As a result of this pressure, the Wales Pension Partnership has adopted an exclusion framework that could provide a route to divesting from companies enabling Israel’s grave violations of international law. But to achieve this, we need to keep up the pressure.

Thanks to everyone who came out in the West Wales weather on Sat to join people worldwide flying kites in solidarity with the children of Palestine — children denied this simple freedom.

Despite the grey weather and sadness for friends trapped in a genocide, there was something uplifting about flying a kite in the wind. Pensioners moving at pace onto the beach, smiling and saying, “I feel like a child”

It’s heartbreaking that children in Gaza cannot feel the same joy and fly a kite without fear of becoming a military target.

We read Mousa S Sayed ’s words in the rain, grateful it was only water falling from the sky, not bombs — and that rain can disguise tears.

Thanks to everyone who donated. It went directly to families in Gaza. For many families, donations from abroad are essential for basic necessities, the only means of surviving another day.

Huge thank you to everyone who came out in the wild West Wales weather today to join people around the world flying kites in solidarity with the children of Palestine — children denied this simple freedom.

It’s heartbreaking that children in Gaza cannot simply run along a beach, feel the wind on their faces and fly a kite without fear. What a cruel world, where something so innocent can become a military target.

We read poetry in the rain, grateful it was only water falling from the sky, not bombs. Looking out to sea, we were reminded that Gaza and Wales share the same air.

Thank you to everyone who donated. Every penny raised will go directly to families in Gaza — towards a pregnant woman access an emergency appointment, buying baby formula, providing a tarp for a family whose tent was ripped, and buying oxygen for a sick father.

For many families, donations from abroad are essential for accessing basic necessities and surviving another day.

May we never become so accustomed to cruelty that we stop being outraged by it.

This Saturday, as part of the Global Gaza Kite Weekend, actions are organised in Aberysytwyth and Cardigan to focus on Israel's latest cruel attack on the children of Gaza.

The regime has announced a ban of all kite flying in the Palestinian enclave and threatened ruthless reprisals for any children engaging in this simple activity.

At 11am in Cardigan/Aberteifi the regular 'Beeps For Gaza' Vigil will have a special focus on this
cruel measure. Please join us if you can at the Guildhall Steps.

And on Aberystwyth's South Beach there will be a 'Fly a Kite For Gaza' session at 2pm.

Please come if you can, there will be Kites and help on hand if you need it.

We are raising funds for families in Gaza, so please bring some cash if you are able !

The Weekly Vigil gathered again in Aberystwyth's Owain Glyndwr Square.

And this Wednesday there was a special focus on Israel's latest cruel targetting of the children of Gaza.

A regular pastime in our Welsh coastal town is Kite Flying and families can often be seen on the Beach enjoying this traditional activity.

In Palestine, and especially Gaza, Kites are very popular.

But now Palestinian children in the besieged enclave who have suffered so much are no denied
even this simple pleasure.

The Israeli occupation forces have imposed a strict ban on Kite flying and openingly threatened
Palestinian children who do not comply.

And this cruel measure is ruthlessly enforced on a people who have already endured bombardment, displacement, the destruction of schools and homes — and the killing and injury of thousands of Palestinian children.

This Saturday 12th September at 2pm, local solidarity activists will be joining the Global Gaza
Kite Weekend with a special Kite Flying on the South Beach.

Please come along if you can, if you don't have a Kite, these will be available on the day and there
are experienced flyers on hand if you need them

Funds will be raised for families in Gaza, so please bring some cash if you are able to.

Huge thank you to Sue for organising a car boot sale to raise money for the families we sponsor in Gaza. ❤️

Sue will hopefully be attending Carbootys every weekend in September. If you have any SMALL items you’d like to donate for sale, please bring them to the Aber Wednesday vigil or message the page to arrange collection.

It’s incredibly heartwarming to see our community coming together. We simply couldn’t support these families without your kindness.

We currently sponsor 12 children and 8 adults across 3 families, helping with essentials including food, water, medication, clothing, bedding and rent.

Families in Gaza are facing unimaginable hardship. Direct donations allow them to buy what they need, when they need it, while giving them some autonomy and dignity in heartbreaking circumstances.

🚨Today, the British government finally said it plainly:
Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory is unlawful, and there is ethnic cleansing of Palestinians taking place in areas of the occupied West Bank.

The UK has announced a ban on goods from illegal Israeli settlements, alongside restrictions on arms licences and other exports that materially contribute to the occupation.

France and Canada will also ban trade in settlement goods.

This is a significant diplomatic shift and a long-overdue acknowledgement of what Palestinians have endured for decades.

Recognition must now be followed by meaningful action, accountability and an end to British complicity.

by Kites 4 Gaza.

Did you know that Israel has banned kites in Gaza ? In the besieged enclave, where the Palestinian people have endured over three years of genocide, even the simplest joys of the children have been stripped away. Flying a kite has been made illegal.
So in solidarity we are joining others around the world in a Global Weekend of Action to fill the skies with the kites so loved by the children and people of Palestine.

There will be special 'Free Palestine' Kites
available on the day or bring your own.
Don't worry if you haven't flown a kite for a while as there will be experienced help on
hand !

We will be collecting donations to raise funds for Palestine, focused on providing for the immediate and basic needs of people in Gaza. So please bring some cash if you can !

Bring your kites, flags, family and friends as we fill the skies once again with love and hope for Palestine.
