Activists in Ceredigion will be hitting the streets again this week to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people.

On Wednesday 17th of June, solidarity, peace and womens activists will gather for the weekly Vigil in Owain Glyndwr Square, Aberystwyth from 12-1pm.

And on Saturday 20th of June in Aberteifi/Cardigan the fortnightly 'Beeps For Gaza' Vigil will
be held outside The Guildhall from 11am-1pm.

Today we remember the birth of Ernesto 'Che' Guevara on 14th June 1928.

Che is well known for his role in the leadership of the Cuban Revolution and for his contribution as an internationalist fighter to the African and Latin American people's struggle against imperialism.

The Palestinian people and their struggle were also close to Che's heart.

In June 1959, months after the victory of the Cuban Revolution, Che visited Gaza, and recognising US imperialism's complicity with the crimes of the Zionist state, declared :

"Look, this is the work of the Gringos,”

Witnessing first hand the devastation and dispossession of the Nakba, he promised the people of Rafah that he would denounce their oppression “before all of humanity.”

Since then the Revolutionary Government of Cuba
have remained the staunchest supporters of Palestine, and despite the tremendous difficulties imposed by the illegal US blokade provide all round material support to the Palestinian people.

Once again, activists in the Welsh town of Aberystwyth took to the streets this Wednesday lunchtime for the weekly Vigil for Palestine.

Leaflets and information material was distributed to passers by and many people expressed their horror at Israel's cruel oppression of the Palestinian people and relentless aggression against Lebanon and neighbouring states.

The Vigil again focussed on the campaign to free Marwan Barghouti and all Palestinians held in Israel's cruel prisons.

There are some 10,000 Palestinians, including many women and children detained by the Zionist regime in wretched conditions.

Marwan Barghouti has been imprisoned for 24 years, 1 month and 27 days for crimes he did not commit and faced solitary confinment, torture and since October 2023 even been denied visits from his family.

An outstanding and popular leader of the Palestinian people, Marwan Barghouti is a symbol of resistance and famously said :

"Our chains will be broken before we are".

The resilience of the Palestinians is an inspiration to people across the world and we must all continue to stand in solidarity with their noble struggle for liberation.

Palestinian leader, Marwan Barghouti has been illegally detained for over 24 years in Israel's cruel
prisons.

But as his son, Arab Barghouti, reminds a huge crowd in Berlin, one thing the Zionists cannot imprison and destroy is hope.

We will be stepping up our support for the campaign to Free Marwan and All Palestinian prisoners, so please join us and look out for updates.

Activists, from Ceredigion and further afield gathered on the steps of the historic Guildhall in Aberteifi/Cardigan this Saturday for a Vigil in Solidarity with Palestine.

The 'Beeps For Gaza' vigil was started in 2023 in response to Israel's brutal invasion of the Palestinian enclave and has taken place every fortnight since.

This week we were joined by a stalwart activist from Co.Kerry in Ireland and as usual engaged with local people and visitors to the town and distributed information material about the boycott campaign and the Palestinian struggle.

We had a special focus on the the campaign to free Marwan Barghouti and all Palestinian prisoners cruelly and illegally detained in Israeli prisons.

An outstanding and popular leader of the Palestinian people, Marwan Barghouti has been
incarcerated for over 24 years, faced indignity and torture, solidarity confinement and since 2023 has even been denied visits from his family.

Some 10,000 Palestinians are held in Israel's prisons, many without trial and including women and children.

We demand the release of Marwan Barghouti and All Palestinian prisoners !
