🌼 SEND Haven — Yesterday’s Session Recap

Yesterday’s session was full of connection, learning and celebration — everything SEND Haven stands for 💛

🎂 We celebrated our lovely Donna’s birthday!
We’re all so lucky to have a Donna in our lives — her kindness and humour make every session brighter. And yes, there was cake and plenty of smiles!

🗣️ Speech & Language joined us
Families had the chance to chat with the team, get one‑to‑one support and pick up practical tips for helping our SEND children communicate. We’re looking forward to welcoming them again soon for more SALT support.

🏠 Home-Start Richmondshire were with us too
Their monthly visits are always so valued — warm, friendly and full of real‑life support for families who need a little extra connection.

⚖️
We were also joined by the Citizens Advice and Law Centre team, offering guidance and advice around SEND, benefits and housing. Their insight helps families feel more confident navigating everyday challenges.

🌱 Shared Practice & Future Visits

SEND Haven is proud to be a space where professionals and families learn together.
Our sessions are often planned, but sometimes our network partners pop in when space allows — true collaboration happens when those touch‑bases are as regular as our scheduled visits.

We have lots more shared practice and visitors planned, with dates to be confirmed — continuing to bring meaningful, accessible support directly to our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us — you make SEND Haven the supportive, inclusive space it is ♾️

🌼 Good Morning Everyone 🌼

Wow… it’s been a busy few weeks for SEND HAVEN.

We’ve had birthdays — which we all know can be a mix of joy, overwhelm, and big feelings for many SEND children.

We’ve had SATs.
We’ve had transition days.
We’ve had promotions and all the emotions that come with them.

It’s a lot for our children, and it’s a lot for us as parents and carers too.

💬 How are you all coping
What’s gone well for you recently?
What hasn’t gone so well?
What’s felt heavy, or what’s felt like a win?

Share as much or as little as you want.
Regardless of how things are going, we’re here if you ever need an ear.

Good morning everyone,
Looking forward to welcoming you to SEND Haven today.

With the warmer weather, many families — including mine — have noticed how challenging the heat can be for neurodivergent children. Sensory discomfort, disrupted sleep and changes in regulation have all made an appearance in our house.

How have things been for you this week?
Feel free to share so we can support one another.

Anna and Karen from AFF worked with the RAF and Naval Families Federations and The Royal British Legion to deliver a twilight training session through Nasen.
The session focused on the need to strengthen provision for Service children with SEND and aimed to raise awareness of the unique challenges faced by Service families.

Don’t forget that Government currently has a consultation open on proposed SEND reforms in England and is keen to hear from you. You can find this via the link in our comment section.

💜 We’re excited to have Home-Start Richmondshire join us again this Wednesday!

This week at SEND Haven, we’re building on the brilliant support already growing in our space — and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back.

🦼This Wednesday we’ll be introducing some disability equipment that our disabled parents have found genuinely useful in day‑to‑day life. It’s a chance to see things up close, ask questions, and share what works in your own home too.

🌈 We’ll also have open access to our sensory support equipment for our SEND children — a calm, safe space where they can explore, regulate and just be themselves.

☕ And as always, we’re here for anyone who needs a cuppa, a chat, or SEND support.
Because none of us should have to navigate this world alone — whether it’s EHCPs, PIP, Adult Social Care, Parent Carer challenges, sensory education, transitions, or anything else that comes with raising disabled children or being a disabled parent.

At SEND Haven, we are a village.
A place where lived experience leads the way, and where every parent, carer and young person is met with understanding, warmth and community.

💜 We can’t wait to see you on Wednesday 9-12 , AWS, Susan Ellwood House
