Last night, the Economic, Regeneration and Environment Committee held its first meeting of the new council year.

Members elected Cllr Michele Mead as Chair of the Committee and Cllr Liz Wood as Vice Chair. Congratulations to both on their appointments.

It was also encouraging to welcome members of the public to the meeting, including a first-time attendee. Public engagement is an important part of the democratic process, and it was great to see residents taking an active interest in local issues.

The Committee reviewed the results of the recent town survey and discussed recommendations to be presented to Council, helping to ensure that future decisions reflect the views and priorities of our community.

Members also received updates on the ongoing work at Willow Meadows and The Dell. The Committee noted the range of surveys and activities currently being undertaken to enhance local habitats and protect the areas’ rare grass species, supporting the long-term conservation and biodiversity of these valued green spaces.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to the discussions.
