Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit

Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit The Joint Air Delivery Test and Evaluation Unit is an Air and Space Warfare Centre Unit.

The primary role of JADTEU is to conduct operational trials and evaluation to develop the delivery by air of personnel, machines and material on behalf of sponsors.

JADTEU recently supported the NATO Submarine Rescue System (NSRS) Exercise FLYING FISH and increasing the air portability of their Submersible Rescue Vehicle (SRV) and its supporting equipment, altogether over 350 tonnes of highly specialist equipment.

The entire NSRS is already air portable on C-17A aircraft, with the submersible being one of the most complex loads the RAF transports on this aircraft, but clearance for most of the system had yet to be achieved for A400M.

Ex FLYING FISH had two components; firstly, to assure and conduct training on the SRV C-17A air portability plan for JADTEU, NSRS and 1 Air Mobility Wing personnel, and secondly to develop air portability clearance for the NSRS Portable Launch and Recovery System for the A400M.

On the 3rd of June 2026 Corporal Roy of the Joint Air Delivery Test & Evaluation Unit (JADTEU) Helicopter and Training Section (Hels) and personnel from the South Central Ambulance Charity (SCAS) undertook a 50 Mile walk, carrying full response equipment and wearing standard trust uniform, starting in Didcot and finishing in Bicester. A donation goal of £2000 had been set which was quickly exceeded.

The 50 mile walk saw the team travel from Didcot, through Oxford City, Kiddlington, Adderbury and finally finishing at the Northern House in Bicester. The fundraiser saw bright sunshine, high winds and heavy rain which didn’t slow down the team who completed the fundraiser in 16 hours, finishing at 3am.

On 11 November, personnel from JADTEU, MFF Solutions, QinetiQ, RATE Services and Safran gathered at Skydive Arizona during Exercise RISING GAINS 2-25 to honour Remembrance Day.

Together, they paused to reflect on the courage and sacrifice of those who have served and continue to serve in defence of freedom.

In the spirit of international cooperation, the team observed a moment of silence — a shared tribute to the fallen and a reaffirmation of their commitment to service, respect, and remembrance.
