Congratulations to everyone who took part in The Summer Reading Challenge 2026: Read to the Beat!

Well done to all the children who signed up, read books, collected rewards and joined in with library activities this summer. If you haven't quite finished yet, there's still time to complete your Challenge. Just visit your local library.

The Summer Reading Challenge website is available all year round, with activities, book recommendations and reading fun. Don't forget to try the Book Sorter, a great way for children to discover new books recommended by other children.

Juli Frances Taylor is running another wonderful workshop at Carterton Library! Join us for a creative writing workshop split over two Saturdays - write your very own poem to be played on BBC Oxford! ✏️

⭐ Saturday 12th and 19th September | 10am - 12pm ⭐

All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Please note that this workshop is split over two Saturdays. They are not independent sessions and a booking will book you in for both days.

Calling the Little Poets of Oxfordshire! ✏️

TIC is The Imagination Collaboration creative writing workshop.

We had a very successful launch in Oxfordshire libraries this summer.
Now we are seeking children with a brilliant imagination to join us in September for two very special workshops to create and write poems for National Poetry Day on 1st October; many of which will be selected to be broadcast on BBC Oxford.

Workshops will be run in Carterton, Kidlington and Bampton libraries ONLY on 12th and 19th September, and spaces are very limited, so booking is essential.
The 12th will be a discussion and practice session, then the children will have a week to complete their poems before the 19th; which will be a recording of the children reading their own work (permission required for broadcast).
