It was great to join with 455 - Morecambe & Heysham Air Cadets this evening and be hosted by Forces & Families United CIC for their weekly games night. A group of friendly, welcoming veterans who are very supportive of the cadet forces.

A nice change from our usual training programme, and the cadets weren't too competitive with their board gaming antics!

Very many congratulations to Warrant Officer Marina Shuttleworth who, following a competitive application and interview process, has been appointed to the role of Wing Warrant Officer for Cumbria and Lancashire Wing RAFAC, now joining the Wing Staff team.

WO Shuttleworth will remain with 2246 Carnforth Sqn, Royal Air Force Air Cadets as a supernumerary member of staff, so we will continue to benefit from her wider Wing experiences and knowledge.

Many congratulations Marina - a very well deserved appointment!

2246 Carnforth Sqn RAFAC joined Town Councillors, dignitaries, veterans and other community groups today for the Carnforth Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service at the Memorial Gardens on Market Street.

An excellent turnout by the residents of Carnforth to commemorate those that made the ultimate sacrifice, despite the inclement weather.

An excellent afternoon with 2246 Carnforth Sqn cadets joining our friends from 455 Morecambe Sqn RAFAC and cadets and staff from various other services including the ACF, SCC, CCF, Ambulance Cadets, Police Cadets and Sea Scouts for the Morecambe FC Remembrance football match, playing against Sutton Utd. Final Score: 2-2

Pre-match lining of the pitch by all cadet services, whilst Standards lined up in the Centre Circle, wreaths were placed, and a 2-minute silence held to commemorate those who had served and paid the ultimate price.

Also, an opportunity for representatives from each of these cadet/youth organisations to participate in a half-time penalty shoot-out wasn't wasted, with 2246 Sqn represented by Cdt Rennie-Bloor and Flt Lt Rennie, alongside two 455 Sqn cadets for the RAFAC contingent.

We're out again this week supporting the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at Carnforth Tesco.

Weekday evenings are quiet in store, but many thanks to those that stopped, chatted and donated to the Appeal - very much appreciated!

If you're popping in for your weekly shop, or just a few forgotten items, please do consider putting any loose change in the collection tin.
