It’s meet the team time again … We have a mother and daughter team on the staff: Ann and Lindsey. Lindsey works hard in the office and her mum Ann is a jack of all trades: experienced guide, helps out in the café, is a master of mailshots and rocks a Christmas jumper!

Introducing bee hives to Leighton 6 years ago started something truly transformative, helping educate us in planting schemes which benefit these essential workers, and all pollinators. Thanks to a great partnership between our gardening team and fantastic beekeeper, the numbers of bees on the estate continues to increase year on year. Testament to our on-going sustainability programme and great for nature as well as the tastebuds, this year’s batch of delicious and award-winning Leighton honey will be in the shop, when we open later in the season.

I simply HAVE to share these with you. We were having a clear out and found these old menus from the tearoom. The one from 1988 says that it’s just 35p for a cup of coffee and afternoon tea is just £1.40. The one that’s not dated says a cup of tea is just 15p, so goodness only know what year that one’s from!

Our tearoom is open and we are proudly serving Carrington Coffee. Not only is it absolutely delicious, it’s made just down the road in Carnforth and ticks all our ideals about shopping local, supporting local businesses and using traceable and sustainable products across Leighton’s estate wherever we can.

Whether you’re a petrolhead, dog-lover, antiques hoarder, athlete or lover of theatre, there’s something for everyone at Leighton Hall this summer. From free antiques valuations days to history weekends, classic and performance cars, packing a picnic for Shakespeare in the Garden, or packing the earplugs for the Motorcycle Hill Climb, we’re running amazing events from all summer until our special candlelit tour in December.

We are now open for the summer season, and it’s all systems go behind the scenes here! This feels like the perfect time to give a huge thank you to the amazing team here at Leighton who all work so hard. It might sound a little cheesy, but it’s absolutely true — we really are the perfect team, always supporting and helping each other every step of the way.
Many of our team members have been with us for a long time, and their loyalty, experience and dedication are truly something special. We couldn’t do it without them, and we’re so proud of the people who make Leighton what it is.
