Whilst most are enjoying the long weekend, the Black Mountain Fire team are on a road trip to the North East of England to carry out a Construction Phase Fire Risk Assessment on a timber frame development site for one of our clients. 🏗️🔥

Timber frame construction carries a significantly higher fire risk during the build and the law is clear.
Under CDM 2015, Regulations alongside the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and HSG168, Whether a Principal Designer or Principal Contractor you have a legal duty to identify, assess and control fire risk on site.

After an incredibly intensive period of planning, development, and hard work behind the scenes at Black Mountain Fire, I'm beyond proud to announce the official launch of Black Mountain Training Academy.

We have been approved as an SFJ Awards Approved Centre, and this is just the beginning.

🎓 We will be offering the following SFJ Awards qualifications:

✅ Level 2 Award in Fire Safety Principles
✅ Level 3 Award in Fire Safety Management
✅ Level 3 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment
✅ Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Fire Safety
✅ Level 4 Certificate in Fire Safety – Fire Auditors
✅ Level 4 Diploma in Fire Safety – Fire Inspectors
✅ Level 4 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment

Season's Greetings from Black Mountain Fire Group 🎄

As we bring 2025 to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on what has truly been a remarkable year.

We've had the privilege of meeting so many wonderful people, embarking on exciting new journeys, and welcoming fantastic new members to our growing team. To everyone who has been part of our story this year, whether as a client, partner, or colleague, thank you. Your hard work, dedication, and support have made this year one to remember.

Looking ahead, 2026 promises to be our most ambitious year yet. With a number of new exciting projects starting in January, as well as serving our existing clients, We're also thrilled to announce that earlier this year we become an approved centre with Skills for Justice, enabling us to deliver a range of fire safety qualifications from Level 3 through to Level 5 in Fire Engineering Design.

Early 2026 will see us launching brand new qualifications specifically designed for fire risk assessors, developed in line with the competence framework, BS9792:2025

With this growth comes opportunity. We'll be advertising a number of exciting vacancies very soon, so watch this space if you're looking to join a passionate and forward-thinking team.

Inspiring the Next Generation of Fire Engineers 🔥

What an incredible week at Black Mountain Fire! We've been busy conducting risk assessments and developing fire strategies for some truly iconic historic premises - work that never fails to inspire us.

But what made this week particularly special was having Charlie, a 19-year-old second-year fire engineering apprentice at UCLAN, join us for hands-on industry experience and mentoring.

Charlie's passion for learning is infectious. His hunger for development, combined with genuine engineering ethics and curiosity, reminded us all why we love what we do.

There's something truly rewarding about watching a young professional ask thoughtful questions and demonstrate the kind of dedication that signals a bright future ahead.

Providing real-world learning opportunities isn't just an investment in individual careers - it's an investment in the future of fire engineering.

🏛️🔥 Privileged to attend the Fire Safety Networking Series launch in the Houses of Parliament last Friday -

what an extraordinary venue!

Having recently been appointed to several historic premises, this event couldn’t have been more timely or inspiring.

Managing fire safety in iconic buildings presents unique challenges that require both innovation and deep respect for heritage preservation.

Alison’s Giles insights on security was incredibly interesting, offering invaluable perspectives on leadership in such a unique setting.

Equally impressive were Jo, Dan, and Helen’s insights into the fire engineering and fire protection teams’ vital work in the building - showcasing just how well-oiled their system is for protecting these iconic assets.

Special appreciation to the organising team, and big thanks to Chloe Antoniuk for the invite to this fantastic event.

It was also fantastic to meet so many professionals and great new contacts throughout the day.

The Parliament tour was the perfect capstone - a powerful reminder of how collaboration and shared expertise strengthen our professional networks.
