Parents of New Harraby,

Did your child return home this evening without their bike?

If they did, we may have it, to retrieve it feel free to accompany them to Durranhill Police Station tomorrow and perhaps explain why they were climbing on a local school roof.

Your local Neighbourhood Teams are all for kids being kids however when potential damage is being caused to buildings, accidentally or deliberately, we will continue to take action. Not to mention the risk of falling from height and the risks of serious injury.

Parents, as we approach the summer holidays and better weather its time to be having conversations at home about the risks of open water, fragile roofs and abandoned buildings. All subjects we have encountered in the last week, all situations that could have resulted in officers having a difficult and heart breaking conversation with you.

Currock and Upperby Parents,

Do you know where your children are?

This week we have received a rise in reported antisocial behaviour, specifically around Lediard Avenue and Currock Road.

These reports include damage caused to a sign outside Currock Community Centre, whilst this may seem small the results of this damage means limited funds will be diverted from provision for the community to repairs.

Local officers will continue to patrol the area and would specifically like to speak with two young boys around 8 - 10 years old wearing red t-shirts and shorts caught on CCTV committing the damage.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team representatives for Wigton & West Rural are PC Roberts and myself PCSO Kirkpatrick. Yesterday I attended the coffee morning in Burgh-by-Sands as part of our pledge for neighbourhood officers to be visible, accessible, engage and listen. In some areas like Dalston and Wigton, a regular Police Desk in a high footfall area will help to meet this criteria but smaller locations need a more bespoke approach, so when community events and meetings are already taking place - it just makes sense to join in with those!

Yesterdays session was another great opportunity to speak with members of the local community about issues affecting them - some I had met before but others for the first time. I enjoy letting people know about the way I work, what I get up to on a day to day basis and how much I do that often goes unseen, in the localities that matter to them. That's where these meetings and social media posts come in. I can do all the foot patrol, mobile patrols and traffic observations I want but if the local people don't know about it or see it for themselves they understandably form the opinion that it just isn't happening. Hearing that makes me want to work harder for the people who live on my patch. That's why I am increasing my attendance at the Parish and Town Council meetings from Beaumont to Bowness and Thursby to Kirkbride. To become a familiar face and someone people can trust I need to be seen, at schools, public events, meetings and on general patrol. Working in the Police is quite fluid - you can make plans and then all of a sudden something else has to take priority, that's the nature of what we do but every time I come to work it is with the aim of doing something positive for the people of Wigton & West Rural.

PCSO Graham Kirkpatrick

The next Wigton & Rural Police Desk will take place in WIGTON COOP, on Friday 19th June 4pm-6pm.

Parents, do you know where your children are?

In light of current weather and recent increases nationally of the tragic loss of life in our lakes and rivers, officers from your Neighbourhood Policing Team have stepped up patrols along bodies of water.

Today officers located several groups including children as young as 11 in the Swifts, Rickerby Park and Sands Centre area of the river Eden. When challenged its clear parents did not know the children were there.

Please speak with your children about the real risks of cold-water shock.

Officers in the coming days and weeks will continue to step up efforts to engage with your young people alongside colleagues from Cumbria Fire & Rescue Service
