In any one year, we see around one fifth of t

he population from new born babies to the frail and elderly. Our social media house rules:

NCIC social media channels will feature a variety of information from our services and partners, keeping you informed and up to date with what is happening across our trust. We're here to help in any way that we can, but we expect users to engage in a kind and respectful manner. We want our social media channels to be safe spaces and a place for healthy, open and insightful discussion, which is why we have a short set of house rules. All users must comply with the social media platform's Terms of Use and be aware of the following:

- We will remove, in whole or in part, posts that we feel are inappropriate, or discriminatory against any individual or group.
- You are wholly responsible for any content you post including content that you choose to share.
- We will remove messages (where function allows) and report and/or block users on our social media channels who post messages at us which we believe are:
- Abusive or obscene
- Deceptive, misleading, derogatory toward or undermining (of an individual or group)
- In violation of any intellectual property rights, including copyright
- In violation of any law or regulation
- Spam and off-topic content (persistent negative and/or abusive posts in which the aim is to provoke a response)
- Promotional material, including links to external websites and promotions

Anyone repeatedly engaging with us using content or language which falls into the above categories will be blocked and/or reported. We will not tolerate or respond to abusive messages. Concerns and complaints:
Social media should not be used for formal complaints. There is more information on how to make a formal complaint on our website. If you have any concerns about services or individuals, then please contact our Patient, Advice & Liaison Service (PALS), who can help you further. Be Kind:
When you speak to us on social media, you are speaking to a person, who will do everything they can to help you with your enquiry. Please remember to be kind, members of our team are working hard to deal with your enquiries and will respond when they have an answer for you. Anyone who is repeatedly rude and/or aggressive to members of our team will be banned from commenting and posting on our channels.

Next week, resident doctors will be taking industrial action for four days from 7am Monday 15 June, ending at 6.59am on Friday 19 June.

We have made detailed plans to make sure we prioritise patients and staff safety and minimise the impact on services as far as possible.

The majority of planned operations and outpatients will be maintained during the industrial action, if any appointments are rearranged those patients will be contacted directly.

✅ If you are not contacted then it is very important that you attend your appointment as normal.

People with urgent or life-threatening issues will always be prioritised, and those with non-urgent needs may experience long waits.

Dr Adrian Clements, Executive Medical Director, said:
“We are committed to keeping our services safe throughout the industrial action, though we ask everyone to use them thoughtfully. Please reserve urgent and emergency care for situations that are truly critical. With fewer clinicians on duty, some patients may face extended waiting times, and we apologise for this. Thank you for your continued understanding and support.”

If you need medical help, you should still contact the NHS.

Only phone 999 if it is life-threatening. If you need other medical help, please use NHS 111 online.

A huge congratulations to all colleagues who were shortlisted for awards this week 🎖

Our reusable theatre hats initiative, led by Anaesthetist Ingrid Wilkins and Surgeon Ludger Barthelmes, was nominated for a national excellence award for the impact it is having on the environment and locally. What started as a project to reduce single‑use hats has become a project that reduces carbon, improves staff experience and champions inclusion across operating theatres. Ludger, Ingrid, and colleagues attended the awards ceremony on Wednesday night but the competition was tough.

Laura Shields and Mr Femi Ajibade were deservedly nominated and shortlisted for Health Care worker of the year at last night's Pride of Cumbria awards. Congratulations to Susan Blakemore former Chief Executive of Cumbria Health who was the overall winner.

They are all winners to us 🏆

We’re celebrating progress at NCIC!

Our Trust has climbed 10 places in the NHS league tables, the biggest improvement in our region.

This reflects the commitment of our amazing staff across planned care, diagnostics and Referral to Treatment.

Trudie Davies, Chief Executive of NCIC, said:
“The plans we have developed together are taking us in the right direction. It is good to see that the hard work of our staff is beginning to pay off in terms of performance. They should be very proud of what they are achieving. This is not just about numbers, it is about the quality of care we provide for our patients, and that is what matters to us most.

“Our waiting times for elective care are much improved, but we know we still have much more to do. Our patients still wait too long in our emergency departments, but we are confident that our £4m investment in staffing and facilities will create the right environment for us to provide the best possible care.”

We know challenges remain, but we’re investing, improving and moving forward together. 💙

Thank you, Team NCIC.
