Last Thursday, the Healthwatch Cumberland team were joined by some fantastic local services at the People First Conference Centre in Carlisle for an Over 50s Cancer Event.💬

The session was led by the University of Oxford's Nuffield Department for Primary Care Health Sciences, who were keen to find out local people's thoughts on cancer testing trials.

There was lots of information available and the opportunity to discuss what barriers people might be facing when considering speaking to a GP about cancer symptoms, or attending a screening.

Plus, the amazing Cumbria Health team even conducted some free health checks!

Thank you to everyone who came along and to those who supported this event:
Eden Primary Care Network, Northern Cancer Alliance, Cumbria Health, Work Well North Cumbria, People First Independent Advocacy

Last Friday, we helped deliver a workshop on women's health at Northside Community Centre in Workington with Cumbria Health and Multicultural Cumbria.

Working with local refugee women and women seeking assylum and sanctuary, our workshop aimed to boost confidence when discussing women's health.

No question was a silly question.

We covered a range of topics from vaccines and cancer screenings to contraception and family planning.

A few weeks ago, we headed to Maryport for an information session about data sharing with the NHS.

We met the lovely Anna who works with the NHS, providing information to members of the public about the Secure Data Environment.

Stay tuned for a video we filmed with Anna about sharing your data with the NHS.
